Hardboard

• Lightweight and adaptable used for flats for this reason as opposed to any other material as it was already present and was reused to save on costs, and therefore easier than using wooden sheeting(too weak), MDF, or plywood(expensive)

Chipboard

• This material was used for the sinks in the set, due to the cheapness of the material and the ease holes could be cut in it to hold the sinks. The issue with this material is that it is very absorbent and therefore we had issues with the varnish we were using as a larger quantities of the varnish had to be used to compensate nor was the overall effect as good as it would have been if we used hardwood or mdf for instance.

Plastics

• Plastic washbowls were used to give a realistic bathroom feel, this is opposed to using metal or ceramic sinks which would not be cost effective whilst still giving the overall effect of a bathroom to stimulate a realistic environment.

Metals

• The metals used on the set were the stainless steel and second hand , which were cost effective as they did not need to be purchased, and still look more realistic than if we attempted to build the set.
