The shot type used in this part of the video, is a ‘medium close-up shot’. This use of shot type helps the audience see what is going on in the scene clearly. This camera angle frames the subject's head (Katy Perry) and cuts off around mid-chest, showing the back of her head and shoulders. This particular shot type helps show the audience, a little of her surroundings yet again, as there is also a camera technique used called “pulling focus”, which is useful for directing the viewers attention. This is because, Katy Perry is shown clearly, however, the background of the nature and greenery is slightly blurred out. This makes Katy Perry Mise-en-scene in this part of the video, shows the lighting clearly, in this case, the lighting would be described as high-key lighting, which emphasises that the characters are encompassing an even lighting pattern and avoiding dark areas in the frame. Everything looks bright with little to no shadow at all. Also, the high- key lighting shows a positive vibe in the video, as the colours are bright and vivid. Katy Perry is shown to be using the heel of her shoe, to make a stick, and replace the heels with a stick, which immediately shows that she is not girly and dainty anymore, but in fact she has transformed into a stronger and braver individual. This subverts from the expectations of females in the media, as usually, women are seen as dependent and weak, which did fit Katy Perry’s image shown just a few seconds before in the video, ,as Mise-en-scene in this part of the video, shows the setting clearly in this video, even though it is not displayed as a wider screen, but instead, as a medium close up shot. The camera angle, shows the background and surroundings of Katy Perry, as the viewer can clearly see and assume that she is in a place of nature and greenery (a jungle). This particular shot lasted for just a second and moved to a different shot of something else Mise-en-scene in this part of the video, shows her costume, showing that she is wearing a torn/ripped top, which again, subverts from our expectations of gender representations of females in the media, as rather than Katy Perry looking well dressed and decent, she is wearing the exact opposite, and therefore, she doesn’t look graceful and neat.
