• In order to influence them, you have to see the world through their eyes

• In order to see the world through their eyes, you need to be aware of your own blinkers

•Your blinkers/type will always be there, but if you are AWARE of them, you can take control

Type 1s have high standards they never live up to

TYPE 1: THE PERFECTIONIST

• Self image: “I do whats right”

• Driven, disciplined, dilligent, hard working reformers

• Set very high standards for themselves and others, moral

• Harsh critics, of self and others, no free lunch, strict meritocracy

• Inflexible, self-righteous, Good or Evil; no grey

Type 2s need to be needed

TYPE 2: THE HELPER

• Self-image: “I am loving”

• Sweet, tender, gentle, caring, generous

• Great antennae, empathy

• Can flip when feel taken advantage of, retake boundaries

• Emotionally needy, need to be essential to others, don’t know own needs

Type 3s are driven to be successful in the eyes of others

TYPE 3: THE ACHIEVER

• Self-image: “I am a winner”

• Natural Leaders – pragmatic, get things done, run organisations

• Value results/task over people

• Ambitious and competitive, never “lose” or “fail” – masters of “Spin”, even deceit, to maintain image

• Only love me because I achieve, living other peoples lives

Type 4s are focused on their internal feelings

TYPE 4: THE ARTIST

• Self-image: “I am special”

• Creative and original, have a gift for expressing emotion

• An eye for aesthetic beauty, style

• Introspective, have to be “authentic” to themselves, refuse to be part of herd, outcasts

• Dark, tragic, prone to depression, self-obsession and self-pity

Type 5s are stuck in their heads

TYPE 5: THE THINKER

• Self-image: “I am wise”

• Objective observers and thinkers, capable of focused concentration

• Driven to observe, understand and explain

• Out of touch with reality; prefer world of ideas and theory to reality

• Detached, cold fish, have difficult relating, little human warmth

Type 6s seek security in a dangerous world

• Self image: “I do my duty”

• Loyal, reliable and trustworthy conservatives

• Cautious worriers – always imagine the worst

• Seek security and certainty in organisations; trust authority not themselves

• Fight and flight reflex

• Self image: “I am playful”

• Joyful, lively, fun, spontaneous optimists

• Get energy from “new” – new ideas, people, places, experiences

• Addicted to freedom, easily distracted, ADD, avoid routine, repetition and commitment

• Always chasing “more”, never get enough

Type 8s punch back at the body blows of life

TYPE 8: THE CHALLENGER

• Self image: “I am strong”

• Tough, passionate fighters – direct, decisive and assertive

• Fearless bulldozers, challenging authority

• Get energy from opposition, argument, punch back at life

• Can be mean bullies, intimidating and insensitive

TYPE 9: THE PEACEMAKER

• Self-image: “I am laid-back”

• Easy-going, easy to like, supportive

• Non-judgemental and humble, easily overlooked

• Have a hard time focusing, appear lazy as a result

• Avoid conflict, procrastinate
