Netiquette is basically manners and respect on the internet. In other words, it is “network etiquette,” or etiquette for online and computer use.

The basic rule of netiquette is to “remember the human,” or remember that there are humans out there who have feelings and you should always be careful about what you write since you have no tone of voice or facial expressions/gestures, etc. when on the computer.

Flames are discourteous and insulting

messages or postings. Flame wars are

flames that have gotten out of hand.

It’s basically sending flames back and

forth, etc. You can avoid these by not

responding to flames that you have

received and not sending a flame in

the first place.

You should stay away

for using all capital

letters because it can

make you seem

angry when you are

not and it can also

cause people to think

you are shouting or

screaming.

If you come across an

uncomfortable topic or site,

you should quickly exit/leave

the website and tell your parents.

What is spam?

Spam is the junk mail that’s

someone you don’t know send you, to

advertize something.

Why is spam a problem?

Spam wastes peoples time and it uses up

internet bandwidth.

What is a mailing list?

A mailing list is composed of names and

addresses, spammers use these to sent spam to

multiple people.

How is spam like an infection?

It infects the inboxes of those who receive it

1. Do not give your email to

unfamiliar/unknown sources.

2. You can create an email for different email for different categories such as

family, work, school, and other.

3. Some email accounts offer a special filter, you can choose to use this filter, just

click on settings.

What is the Internet?

The Internet, sometimes called the Net, is a huge group of interconnected computer networks that spans the globe.

What does WWW mean?

• WWW means World Wide Web. It is its visual quality that distinguishes the Web from the rest of the Internet.

What are two browsers?

• Two web browsers would be Microsoft and Mozilla.

You could accidently give out personal information that could lead to some one stalking you or try to meet you some where. Some of the risks in a chat room could be the of getting kidnapped or being sexually harassed.You should never give out your real name, your home, school or e-mail address, your phone number, a photo of yourself and your parents' credit card details in a chat room.
