Welcome!I am looking forward to helping your child find success.
In order to get started, you will need Skype on your computer.
Skype is used because it:
•facilitates the formation of a more personal relationship between the trainer and the family through the ability to see one another while you talk.
•allows the trainer to see the child while s/he participates in the program and thus make suggestions and adjustments to help your child reap the most benefits.
The following will walk you through the process of downloading and setting up this free software. This should take less than 20 minutes.
To your child’s happiness and success! Sherrie Hardy
1. Get on the Internet
Or
type in:
http://www.skype.com
2. Click GET SKYPE
3. Click Get Skype For Windows
4. Click Download Now
5. If the download does not start automatically, click on Try Again.
6. Click on Save
7. Click Save
8. Click Run
9. A window may pop up asking you:
• Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?
Program: Skype

Your Skype account is set up!
Let’s proceed to confirm that your speakers and camera are ready for your call with the trainer.
1. On your account page, click Tools. Then Click Options.
2. To confirm your camera is working properly with the program, Click Video Settings
3. If your webcam is properly plugged in (in newer laptops they are built-in) you should appear “live” in the center of the window.
If this doesn’t happen:1. Check to make sure your camera is plugged in.2. If your camera is built-in, check the settings at Control Panel—Device
Manager---Imaging Devices and try to troubleshoot there.
4. Now let’s check your sound system. Click on Audio Settings.
5. To test your microphone, simply speak aloud. If your microphone is working properly, it should mark at least ¾
full on the graph.
If nothing marked on the graph:1. Check to make sure the correct microphone appears in the window. (pink arrow)2. Go to Control Panel----Hardware and Sound---Sound----Recording.
• Confirm that the correct microphone is indicated.
6. Try a Test Call: Click Make a Free Test Call
This is a pre-recorded message that will give you a chance to speak. Afterwards, it will play back your message to you. By doing this, you will confirm that your speakers are set up correctly for use with Skype.
Your trainer will call you at your appointment time.
• Please have your speakers on so that you will hear the call coming in.• When you hear the call come in, click on the option of call with video.
We are looking forward to participating in this life changing program with you and your child.
Sincerely, Sherrie Hardy
