First conditional

The first conditional is used to express a strong connection between the condition and outcome. To understand what we refer we will see an example.

 Example:If I win the lottery, I'll buy a house.

WHAT IS?

· We use the conditional to indicate a condition and a result and therefore consists of two phrases, the main and indicating the condition.

· This type of sentence indicates what will happen if the condition occurs in the present or the future.

HOW TO FORM? YES: The first conditional is formed with the present

simple in the 'if-clause' (a phrase with 'if') and the simple future in the 'main clause' (main clause).

 Example:

[If ... Simple Present +] + [will + main verb]

If I win the lottery, I'll buy a house.

If I win the lottery, I will buy a house

NEGATIVE: To make a conditional negative we can use two different structures. The first would be to deny the following verbs normally.

 Example:

If I win the lottery, I would not buy a house.

If I do win the lottery, I will not buy a house.
