Importance of PDHPE…
• PDHPE encourages children to make personal health choices, which is essential for healthy development.
• PDHPE has been often viewed as not having great importance to subjects such as English and Maths.
• However, PDHPE is essential as it enables children to develop communication, decision making, interacting, movement and problem solving skills.
• This presentation will argue about the importance of having PDHPE in Primary Schools.
Communicating and Interacting skills
• Students develop effective ways to communicate with others.
• This is essential as it allows students to form positive relationships, which are essential for well-being.
• Children develop positive interpersonal relationships.
• Interpersonal skills are essential as it provides students with a sense of belonging.
Decision Making skills
• Students develop decision making skills through play.• Decision making skills need to be developed and
practised as it allows children to experiment, explore and make choices.
• Also, children develop confidence to take risks and to extend their investigations of the world.
• PDHPE provides the best opportunities for supporting decision making skills.
Moving and Problem solving skills
• Children learn to seek help when faced with problems.
• Also, learn to use a variety of problem solving skills.
• PDHPE encourages children to take part in physical activity. As a result, children are provide with movement skills.
• Movement skills are essential as it encourages children to make positive health choices and lifestyles.
