Key Aspects to Consider

Project managers and publishers need excellent communication skills to work with in-market teams and explain which solutions are available to achieve the required results.

Publishers need strong technical skills, including CMS, HTML, CSS, jscript, JSON, AJAX and design skills, including imaging and multimedia suites.

With GWO, quality is more about the final look and feel than matching the original source. Often, changes within a CMS may be needed through custom HTML, CSS or other code. It’s important to keep in mind that when publishing to the web, content usually goes live immediately with our name on it.

EVALUATING GWO DEALS

When considering whether or not a deal is appropriate for GWO, among other factors, we will look at the volume of pages to manage, throughputs and the number of frequency of website updates or sales/marketing campaigns.

CLIENT EXAMPLES

RESOURCES REQUIRED TO SUPPORT A DEAL

Office and Windows Live

Both Office and Windows Live started life as localization projects. Over the years, additional services such as publishing, in-context review, editorial, development, customization and DIY support have been added that have moved these programs into the GMO space.

Windows Online

Windows Online was won as a publishing-only project through RFP, but after proving that localization and publishing processes are more efficient when performed together using the same team, Lionbridge was nominated as localization provider for windows.microsoft.com content.

Canon

We currently localize Canon “non-web” content through our Amsterdam office and publish web content localized by another vendor through the Dublin office. As these are two separately run accounts, the existing Canon loc business is not considered GMO. If we win the web loc business that matches up with the content that LIOX Dublin publishes, this will become GMO revenue. The existing non-web translation would remain GLT.
