Geekazine Shares A Real #DigitallyDark Story We recently asked several bloggers to do without their mobile device for 2 days to simulate what its like to experience device theft. In the LoJack #DigitallyDark challenge, Jeffrey of Geekazine shared a real story of having his iPhone stolen, which as he puts is a far better story than any recreation’” post inspired by our contest. The other #DigitallyDark stories have substantiated this - its much easier to losea device for 48 hours if you know its coming back, your data isnt compromised and youre not out a huge chunk of cash and time! In Jeffrey’s post, he shares how a quick stop at a grocery store on the way to a weekend getaway left him without an iPhone. I left the window open only a couple inches, thinking that was not a problem. Further, I noticed I left my phone in car while at the store, but thought the doors were locked and it will be fine. I was wrong." A young kid was able to reach in through the open window to unlock the door and steal the phone, making a getaway on his dirt-bike. The car alarm went off, but this didnt slow him down. As Jeffrey notes, he was lucky that the thief didnt notice the Macbook, iPad and Google Glass all on the back seat. Jeffrey ended up having to buy a new phone - out of contract - and we know how expensive that can be! Jeffreys insurance deductible was $500 - not worth it, even when the out-of-contract phone was $550. The device had basic tracking on it, but as Jeffrey noted, it probably was wiped then shipped overseas. Thanks Jeffrey for sharing your #DigitallyDark story (and were sorry you had to go through that theft experience)! Were proud to now be protecting your laptop! Jeffrey learned the hard way that theft can happen to anyone, and very quickly too. Device tracking is useless if devices are wiped - thats why we offer our patented persistent technology on select devices, so our software never stops tracking. Geekazine Shares A Real #DigitallyDark Story

We recently asked several bloggers to do without their mobile device for 2 days to simulate what it’s like to experience device theft. In the LoJack #DigitallyDark challenge, Jeffrey of Geekazine shared a real story of having his iPhone stolen, which as he puts is a “far better story than any ‘recreation’” post inspired by our contest. The other #DigitallyDark stories have substantiated this - it’s much easier to “lose” a device for 48 hours if you know it’s coming back, your data isn’t compromised and you’re not out a huge chunk of cash and time!

In Jeffrey’s post, he shares how a quick stop at a grocery store on the way to a weekend getaway left him without an iPhone.
