People like to read magazines because:•Consumers trust adverts from a magazine where the advertiser usually has to pay a fee. Adverts on the internet are a lot cheaper and can even be free and this can lead to false adverts on the web.

Trust.

FOCUS• When reading a magazine

you are less likely to multitask because people like to focus on one topic at a time unlike the internet where you will have things like pop ups and videos to distract you.

HOW HAVE AUDIENCE HABITS CHANGED WHEN CONSUMING MEDIA?

• In today's day and age people are consuming media differently due to advancing technology e.g. mobile phones, portable computer tablets etc. Evolution changes human behaviour and habits. Speaking in terms of sourcing information, we have come to evolve or we are beginning to pass the stage of buying regular magazines as we are now evolving into a mind set of accessing all information on the computer tablets and mobile phones anywhere and at any time without having to carry excess weight and creating clutter in storage of the magazines. Further more it allows more flexibility and feasibility.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE IMPACT OF THIS CHANGE ON THE MAGAZINE INDUSTRY (PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION AND CONSUMPTION)?

• The impact that advance technology has had on the magazine production has been the mass reduction in sales leading to bankruptcy or forcing the companies to find alternative sources of providing information for finance. The cost of production and distribution is also to high in comparison to other sources of getting the same information thus leading in reduction in consumption.

HOW ARE AUDIENCE’S HABITS GOING TO CHANGE THE WAY IN WHICH MAGAZINES ARE CONSUMED, PRODUCED, DISTRIBUTED TODAY?

• The majority of consumers are forced to change due to the evolving world that we live in. Logic and human nature gives us the reasoning to follow what is easier and cheaper for us. There for with the high costs of production and distribution when a cheaper alternative is available it is human nature for the consumer to buy it. Thus changing the way magazines are consumed.

HAVE CIRCULATION FIGURES DROPPED/INCREASED?

• From the graph we can see clear evidence that there has been a significant drop in the amount of people who listen to the radio news or read news papers. This is due to the advances in web based technology thus allowing news on the internet to be more preferable. This is clear due the high rise in the amount of people who get the news form the internet from 2006 to 2008.

WHAT ABOUT THE IMPACT OF ADVERTISING? (THIS IS A FUNDAMENTAL ASPECT TO THE MAGAZINE INDUSTRY…HOW WILL ADVERTISING INFLUENCE THE MAGAZINES FUTURE?)

• . The cost of advertising in magazines seems to be far more expensive than the returns it provides. Therefore businesses are choosing to use current technology, which is so much more affordable, to advertise their products. The impact this will have on the future of magazines will be loss of finance, on which it is dependent, and this will possibly lead to its closure.

MY OPINION OF THE FUTURE OF THE MAGAZINE INDUSTRY?

• In my opinion the magazine industry will face increased pressure from internet based magazines. This is due to the rise in technology allowing internet magazines to become more graphical and attractive.
