SAARC ENERGY CENTRE

• Established in 2006 at Islamabad to initiate, promote and facilitate cooperation in energy sector of SAARC Member States for the benefit of all

• Funded by SAARC Member States and supervised by a Governing Board comprising all Member States

• Professional staff selected on merit from Member States• Expert services obtained through outsourcing• International cooperation established with ADB, ASEAN, UN, ESCAP, Japan, US, Germany.

• Initiate, Coordinate and facilitate regional, joint and collective activities on energy in the SAARC region

• Provide technical inputs for the SAARC working group on energy, energy ministers’ forum and other SAARC meetings on energy

• Help in the integration of regional energy strategies by providing relevant information and expertise

• Be a catalyst for the economic growth and development of the South Asia region

– Oil and Gas – Electricity – Renewable Energy – Technology Transfer (including Coal and Energy

Efficiency)
