Hockney's Joiners.

• This image is one of Hockney's well known compositions. This photograph is an image of his mother that has been created by taking shots at different view points. The photograph is made up of several smaller images to create a face or an object. The style of this type of photography is called joiners. Hockney was greatly influenced by a famous iconic artist called Pablo Picasso. Picasso created the style of cubism which is a form of art that would paint different sections of a person or object that would eventually build up into a clear image. On The right is an example of Picasso art which is clear that Hockney found inspiration in it and was influenced by what he created.

Different styles of photography.

• Here are two similar images in the style of joiners. The one on the Right is Hockneys work and on the left is a person that was inspired by what he created. You can see in the image by hockney that the image is made up by different view points of this person that creates the ‘illusion’ that there are other people too. The image on the left has also used Hockney’s style of photography, and shows that his work has influenced others. The focus is clear of the two young girls and the use of joinery emphasises the quality of the image and makes it a more interesting photograph.

More of His Joinery..

• This image is very interesting in the way that hockney has put it together. Its intriguing because he hasn’t put all the different sections together like some of his previous work. The photograph being simplistic in my opinion makes it even more appealing because there is a clear focal point and nothing to distract the eye. I think the decision not to connect all the images was a interesting approach and works because it’s a different style on Joiners.
