Why do we need dehumidification?

The main reasons and signs showing that dehumidificationis needed:

The outdoor air is never completely dry anywhere in the worldand indoors multiple sources add to the relative humidity of the indoor air

Different sources which add to the relative humidity of the indoor air:

Humid air coming from outsideTranspiration from peopleSteam from cooking and bathingHumidity emanating from production processes Storage of humid goodsBuilding constructionsFurniture

Due to ever rising energy prices, buildings are much better insulated thanbefore.

The insulation might keep out the cold, but it also reduces the air change and traps humidity.

A sure sign is dew on windows, which caneasily turn into moisture causing damageto the woodwork.

Warm air holds more moisture than coldair, and for centuries the traditionalmethod for reducing humidity was basedon this fact.

In the traditional method air is taken intothe room and heated up to ensure that it holds more water. Then the air is ventilated out of the roomto reduce the humidity. This process is continued until the desired conditionsare achieved

The air is continuously circulatedthrough the dehumidiferGradually the humidity is condensedinto a water container with noresulting heat loss to the outside.Low energy consumptionEasy to control if the room is closed

Dehumidification

The basic principle of dehumidification assumes thatthe room is closed.

Reduced energyconsumption (approx. 80% reduction compared to traditional heating and ventilation)Less risk of surface dryingcavitations and criticalpoint drying because the temperature is lowNo energy loss. The electrical energy led to the compressor and fan motor is converted into heat.Controllable process as the room is closed.

A VERY ENERGY CONSUMING AND UNECONOMIC SOLUTIONAs the heat is – often literally –thrown out of the windows.

PROLONGED PROCESSFuthermore the air taken intothe room contains its ownrelative humidity prolongingthe process depending on the time of year, the outsidetemperature and weatherconditions.
