To create a blogspot.com blog you need a gmail account.

Go to: http://www.google.co.uk and click on ‘mail’ at the top!

1. Click on the button on the bottom right of the page.

2. Fill in the registration boxes, choose your desired login name create it to follow this example

Name

Subject

Year

(@gmail.com –

this bit is already on the form)

3 Use the button to check your name is available.

EXAMPLE

Use a password that you will remember and write it in your journal Make the security

question what is the name of your first teacher – make it the teacher for this subject

Use another email as a backup OR recovery email; if this one gets blocked it can be the way to get it back

The word verification sometimes takes me 2 or 3 goes – that is ok

When you have finished the form Click the button.

Security things

•After you click the button you may have to follow a verify my account

process.

•For this alone you will need to use a mobile phone

•Follow the steps and type in your number

•You will receive a text with a code number in

•It is free

•Type in the number and complete the steps

•You now have an account

Go to: http://www.blogger.com and login! (it may do this automatically)

but

1. The top of the page should look like this:

2. Login using the gmail account you have just created.

3. Follow the instructions entering your name and ticking the box to agree to

the Terms of Use, Clicking to advance.

When you are asked to name the blog url please call it

yournamekettasmedia2012.blogspot.comName the blog itself as your candidate number,

name and AS media 2012

On the first screen you can select a template/design your blog

•Click the design tab

•Select Template designer

•And follow the options to personalise your blog

Adjust widths changes the size of the boxes for posts and gadgets

Background changes the ‘screen’ behind the boxes – you can import your own too

Layout selects the number of ‘columns’

Choose awesome from the templates

Advanced allows you to change text/font/ post background / hover colours……it adds a personal touch

• Security – being safe & using settings

• Select the settings tab

• Choose permissions and then add me as an author

I will accept and then I will be able to support your blog – ONLY YOU AND I CAN

NO-ONE ELSE

protect yourself from rude comments – select the settings>comments tab

Find; COMMENT MODERATION;Choose ALWAYS

Then no comments will be public unless you give permission

You can also add extra control•Choose word verification•Have authors profile pics showing•Add an email where you will be told if you get an email

•REMEMBER TO SELECT SAVE WHEN YOU HAVE DONE

Posts, links & Gadgets

1. This is the main body of your blog: from the ‘Posting’ tab you can add new posts, edit old ones, or moderate comments people have left on your posts.

2. The ‘add picture’ and ‘add video’ buttons are your friends… use them!

3. Later we will learn how to upload / import / convert and save images, how to add a gadget, how to add a link, follow a blog etc

4. For extension/homework – have a go at one of these
