If you are keen enough, you will realize there are two antagonistic

forces at work on the face the earth. We all remember the rebellion that

happened in heaven where Lucifer (Satan) and the wicked angels who

disobeyed God were driven away from His presence. Satan was filled

with pride and rebelled against God’s authority. Isaiah 14:13-19. God’s

sovereignty cannot be challenged by any other power! The book Revelation reveals to us

what had transpired.:

"Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth

and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he

has a short time." Rev. 12:12-NKJV

These two Powers are normally referred to as GOOD and EVIL. It is astonishing to note

some people’s minds have been blinded and no longer loathe evil. They have no Godly fear. It is

a challenge to differentiate between good and evil. The world would be much safer if we went

back to the basics: distinguishing between Good and Evil. The Bible teaches that, "The thief

does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have

life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10–NKJV.

The ‘thief’ referred to in the above text is the devil and his wicked forces. He cannot operate

without a yielded vessel (body). His victims are majorly those who have no relationship with

God. The moment one reject God, the enemy takes dominion over his life and he has the right to

execute wicked schemes through them.

The devil has been defeated by the Finished Work of Jesus Christ On the Cross. We

must be vigilant. The last kicks of a dying horse are dangerous. These last kicks can and

have swept many away to abyss (hell).

If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?

Psalms 11:3. The righteous must rise and shine. The righteous

are the salt and the light of this earth. Mat.13-14. Our Lord Jesus

commissioned his disciples to reach the lost and make disciples of

nations baptizing them in the name Father, and of he Son and the

Holy Spirit. This Word has transformative power to change this

world. Mat.28:19-20. It is the Word of God, the Blood of Jesus Christ and the Testimony of

the saints that overcame the evil one. Rev.12:11

Jesus said, "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scat-

ters abroad.” Mt 12:30. You cannot be neutral. You are either promoting Good or Evil in your

dealings.

In a military combat (warfare), you cannot

swap positions and join the enemy’s camp at your

own volition or as you desire. You are either for or

against. That is why Joshua asked the man who

was standing in his way whether he was for them

or for their adversaries. It is written:

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho,

that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man

stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His

hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, "Are

You for us or for our adversaries?" So He said, "No, but as Commander of the army of the

LORD I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to

Him, "What does my Lord say to His servant?" Joshua 5:13-14

Those who stand for righteousness please God and will be rewarded with Eternal

Peace whereas those who promote evil will face eternal judgment and punishment (death).

Below please find some differences and benefits between Good and Evil.

Item Good (Righteousness) Evil (Sin)

1) Believing and Obeying God’s Word. John 3:16

Doubting and Rejecting God’s Word

2) Love for your neighbor. Luke 10:27 Hating your neighbour. King Ahab and Jezebel hated Naboth and killed him. I Kings 21

3) Righteousness and Forgiveness. Isaiah 54:14, Mat. 6:14

Un-forgiveness, persistent anger and bitterness towards others. Cain. Gen. 4

4) Good stewardship of office. After feeding multitudes, Jesus authorized to collect the left-overs =12 baskets. Luke 9:17

Bad Stewardship office. Eli’s sons. 1 Sam.2:22-27. Wastefulness of resources and greedy. Lack of reverence for God. Tampering with sac-rifice.

5) Building infrastructure for the better-ment of people’ lives. Noah build the Ark that was used to save human race. Gen. 8:14

Destruction of property, e.g. arson, murder, ter-rorism. As being witnessed in some of our schools and communities.

There has been an outcry from many people concerning burning of schools especially dor-

mitories in schools in our nation. Over 100 dormitories have been set ablaze. There are some

who are trying to blame others for being the cause behind this menace. We can draw a parallel

to what is happening and the parable of Jesus about the enemy who came at night to sow tares

in a wheat field. Mat. 13:28-41.

The enemy uses lie as a tool to propagate evil. No one leaves a legacy for destroying prop-

erty or behaving in a disorderly manner. As a student I must be (a) grateful to my parents for

sending me to school. (b) Be optimistic that despite some hitches my presence in school

is not permanent but a season. (c) Select my role models wisely. (d) My role models

(mentor) should not be trouble-makers of our society but visionaries. (e) I know Not all ce-

lebrities and public figures qualify to be emulated. (f) I should delete whoever preaches vi-

olence and disorder from my database to avoid infection. (g) I should be patriotic: Love my

institution and my nation. (h) Work hard and never rely on leakages.

It is painful to see some of the facilities that were built through

HARAMBEE (pulling together) Spirit being brought down sense-

lessly without care. Our parents sacrificed their meager resources

to ensure that the coming generations would benefit unlike them

who used to trek for a hours to access education miles away.

In early 70s there was a concerted effort to build more schools to accommodate many pupils

who needed to join secondary school after completing their primary education. During those

days, it is the Village Elders (MAGURU) who were authorized to oversee the collection of funds

for this purpose from their jurisdictions. The late Musician Jacob Luseno from Western Kenya

found himself in bad books with the then authorities. He was allegedly blamed for composing a

song known maguru ka khuvui na matonde muzimoni to deter them from the said kind of be-

haviour. MAGURU were accustomed to harassing villagers at dawn while conducting this exer-

cise. Some villagers had complained for having their household, various items, utensils and live-

stock confiscated without their consent for failure to raise the needed money. Our departed

souls are not happy seeing wanton destruction of school facilities.

God did not create human beings to bring

misery to the world but to manage it. It is so

sad when we see the aftermath of blasts. Search

for victims from the rubble. The shedding innocent

blood heinously. Those who murder innocent peo-

ple through terrorism and destruction of property

are not serving the Living God but the evil one! Ex.

20:13.

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and

subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every liv-

ing thing that moves on the earth." Gen. 1:28 –NKJV

The tares would be likened to evil thoughts the enemy sows in the hearts of people so

that they may cause mayhem. Let the Word of God be your shield of faith against this fiery darts

of the enemy. Eph. 16:16

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I come to you acknowledging that I am a sinner.

Please forgive me. Make me an instrument of peace

wherever I go. Let no member of my body, my soul

and my spirit yield to the evil one’s schemes. Cause

me to be a good manager of your resources. I reject

Satan and all his wickedness. Come into my heart

and save me now. Write my name in the Book of

Life. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and Power.

Thank for doing it. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen!
