Founded by Florens-Louis Heidsieck in 1785, Heidsieck & Co Monopole earned its sparkling reputation as one of the most illustrious champagne houses at the turn of the 20th century. Acquired by Paul-Francois Vranken in 1996, the revolutionary entrepreneur sought to add a champagne house clearly affirmed with tradition and style.

With the King of Prussia, the English court and Tsar Nicholas II among its revered patrons, the brand went on to export its much-loved cuvée all over the world and celebrates its 230th birthday in 2015.

Q: How has the brand been entrepreneurial over the years? A: Mr. Vranken is a good example of a self-made entrepreneur. He’s bought up brands and driven them forward throughout the globe with 11 subsidiaries, and is an aspirational character. Heidsieck is a more fun and vibrant brand, winning IWC Gold Medals with the vintage on sale here. Q: Is this the first time you’ve been at BST with the brand? A: Yes, it’s the first time we’ve been here. It’s been a really good experience so far, we’re halfway through and sales are great. We feel music is a good fit for the brand. Q: What else are you doing at BST this year? A: We’ve been entertaining clients who are delighted to be coming to one of the UK’s best festivals, and have been treating our VIP customers to champagne tasting on the BetterView platform. Q: Any tips from the top on why it has worked so well at BST? A: Hyde Park is full of London-centric people, and we’ve made champagne available to all by keeping the price down a little. In terms of sales, it’s been accessible and not priced out of the market. The bar staff have been brilliant giving table service and taking payments on the Barclaycard Anywhere device.
