Our app addresses families that need to

spend more time together and who

struggle to plan ahead in their busy

lifestyles. This app means that the family

can input events for the whole family or

just for one member meaning that the

entire family is up to date with what is

happening and who will be where

throughout the year.

Background…?

We realise that many families need this

reminder and planner as most are busy

and find it difficult to plan ahead due to

contrasting schedules. This calendar

provides an all year round organising

service and can be used to input any date

and time you want as well as reminders of

addresses and any extra information.

The problem that our app bases its focus

on is to solve the ever growing problem

of teenagers and children planning days

out with friends and extra curriculum

activities that contrast with their parents

plans.

Many families end up double booked and

rushed at the weekends, because of

miscommunication and simply forgetting

earlier made plans.

How can you make sure that

your family is organized and know

what and when there are doing

things? How can you make sure

that you don’t plan something that

contrast with another member of

your families plans?

You’re about to go out with your best friendto watch the latest movie. It’s been plannedfor weeks and you could have sworn that youtold your mum and dad as soon as the planswere arranged. But now their asking you wereare you going because your supposed to begoing to Grandma’s for her birthday? Maybeyou didn’t tell them after all? Forgetting to tellothers and ending up double booked?

Problem…?

My team, Appazing Ideas, is developing

a mobile app

to help families to communicate and stop

them from getting double booked a

creative calendar that won’t let you

forget, using notification and a

messaging system.

The App…?

Users…?During the scoping stage of our

app’s development we

discovered that most would

download our app if it was free,

many even though when

questioned that our idea was

already an app it sounded that

good. We found out that most

who have a family would use and

spread our idea to others.

A paper calendar is an

obvious alternative however

it is making sure that the

entire family look at the

calendar every day. There is

also the possibility that if

they plan something half

way through the day they

forget to add it later in the

day to the paper version.

Alternatives…?There is also a few apps

similar to our idea however

these aren’t very inviting and

poorly designed, to make

sure that our app succeeds

and is better then our

competitors we must make

sure that our secret sauce is

better than those.

Our core feature for the MyFamily

app is the calendar and the families’

ability to all see the same calendar

and all are updated when a new

feature is added. The profiles for

each family member gives the

individual a feel of uniqueness and

individuality. And also unlike any

app similar to our idea you can

message your family about further

details concerning a certain event-

this will run via Wi-Fi or 3G.

Feedback…?

Throughout this project we have

gathered several results from

our potential customers. This

feedback about our app and

whether they think it is a good

idea has been integrated into

our development and we have

improved our ideas along the

way.

The improvements have

incorporated some of our

users ideas as well as

developments that we

thought needed added. Some

examples of these are adding

the messaging feature

between family members and

the personalisation.

The start up screen for our

app is a simple and easy to

use log in screen, where

you can put you name and

password in to get access

to your personalised

calendar for your family.

You can then add and view

your events and plans.

that everyone can add to

their calendar either

individually or as a

family comes in the form

of a profile page. This

page will allow you to

pick your set-up for the

calendar and a few other

qualities about yourself

to make your experience

using MyFamily more

enjoyable.

The main feature of our

app is the calendar and

we have incorporated

this in an easy to use

and read layout. You will

first pick a month and

the this will take you to

that months calendar

page.

Prototype…?From there you can pick

a day where you will see

a time table for that day.

Notifications will inform

you when a new event is

added or changed, you

can then choose to view

it later or jump to that

date to see what is

happening and when.

Our app is feasible as it uses the phone

and its features as the base instead of

internet or our own created base. Our

app uses notifications and a calendar

which are already built into many

smartphones these days. The data that

we will be using is not owned by anyone

and is simply dates and times for the

following years. Our app can easily be

created by a professional in three

months or less meaning that it is feasible

and does not cost ore than it should to

make.

Feasibility…?

We have chosen to make our app

free to all customers and have a

sponsor who would pay for it’s

development and creation. So far

we haven’t contacted any possible

sponsors that could help us turn

our app idea into a full working app

available to most.

Business…?

We have chosen three main

methods to spread our app idea and

interest potential users. These main

ideas are word of mouth, for this we

would tell friends family and work

colleagues, hopefully they will like

our idea and will then spread it the

same way we did, till eventually our

idea is out there.

Marketing…?Social media is also another

possible way to spread our app

idea using posts and chat rooms.

Our third and final advertising idea

is by using the first two ideas to

express that we are only thirteen-

fourteen years old, if our app is

good and people find out about

our age hopefully they will be

impressed enough to buy it.

Extras…?Throughout this creative journey to

develop our ideas and create a basis

for an app we have learnt many

skills that many of us didn’t know.

For example we have created a

video which will hopefully explain

our app as well as learning some

key team working skills, these are

needed for our futures and to have a

happy career.
