Mobile subscriptions 30 million as at June 2012

Smartphone take-up soared by 104 per cent to 8.67 million over the 12 months to May 2012.[1]

Almost half of Australia’s adult population owns a smartphone and 9.2 million went online via their mobile in the six months to May 2012.[2]

The number of mobile internet subscribers increased by 22 per cent to 22.1 million subscribers June 2012.[3]

Telsyte predicts that the number of 4G-enabled mobile devices is set to grow from around one million in early 2013 to more than 17 million services in operation by the end of 2016.

It is estimated that 46 per cent of total mobile connections will be 4G by mid-2016.[4]
