Geolocation apps


Geolocation pinpoints the user’s geographic location based on latitude and longitude. Geolocation uses both WiFi and cellular connections to find user location.

Users of mobile devices are connecting to people, places and virtual communities using so-called geolocation apps such as Foursquare, Facebook Places, Google Places, Yelp and Wikihood.


Foursquare

• A social app that allows users to find each other and geolocated places around them.

• Journalists can use Foursquare to connect to sources associated with events and places.



• Find sources related to a specific business - the “I need to interview a frequent customer of this business”
