Thailand Flooding 2011

How is Thailand Flooding?I thought of 5 reasons why Thailand is flooding. 1. The first reason is that it rained more than the average. Also it

was a heavy monsoon season in Thailand. 2. Since people developed lots of building and roads made out of

concrete, the water cannot infiltrate which floods the city easily. 3. People cut down lots of trees. Since the trees suck up the water

it, so it slows the water river flow and also it lessens the water. But there are not much trees which leads to floods. Also water cannot transpirate.

4. Building sand bags made floods to flood more. Because the water has to flow through to the mouth, but the sand bags block the water to go through which makes the flood to stay longer.

5. The final reason is that the people did not control the dam that well, which the dam will over flow. This is what happened to cause the Thailand flooding.

How the Flood affected Me(using the compass)

Nature: This flood has not affected me in nature, but if I go out I can see people putting sand bags building walls to protect themselves from the flood. Economy: My parents job got affected positively. My parents did not loose any money, but my parents started to buy supplies in case Bangkok will flood.Society: In the flood none of my family members got affected by the flood, but one of my dad’s worker’s house got affected by the flood. I think that the government is not really helping people I know who have been affected. My dad’s worker is sad about his loss for his car. I donated some food and water to a organization so they can help the affected people. Well-Being: I feel worried about this situation because the water will always go to the sea, so Bangkok might flood since Bangkok is near to the Chao Phraya river. I think that it is not fair, because only the northern part is flooded, but not Bangkok. I do not really fell safe.

How the flood affect Farmers. • Nature: The dirty water made the crops in critical condition

which will cost a lot of money to recover the whole rice field. Since it has damaged too much, farmers will not be able to resume their job next year.

• Economy: Since of the damage, farmers have to start or plant new crops in a different places in order to do a living. Farmers will not earn money if only they recover their fields. Farmers will also loose their money.

• Society: Since farmers cannot harvest their crops people cannot buy food which makes them hungry.

• Well Being: Since the farmers have no money they cannot buy proper food which affect their health. Also the farmers will have to eat the crops that are in critical condition. These crops will make the farmers sick.
