•Reflected in sport which historically has been a male dominated sector

sport, but only 57% of women

•Twice as many men watch sport than women
•Very few professional sportswomen
•Lack of female role models
What is being done?
•Companies such as Youth Sports Trust & Stonewall work alongside the media and within schools to combat homophobia and sporting stereotypes (especially with regard to 2012).

•8 professional teams
•FA invested £3 million
•Can only pay 4 players £20,000 per year
•Games shown on ESPN
•Since 2007 equal pay for male and female winners
