• Mandate governance processes and Ae compliance to funding outcomes.
• Independent directors with mandated terms of office for all board members.
• Disclose gender balance on Olympic sports boards. • Lead by example – the IOC and other top level bodies to set gender targets for their boards and commiDees.
• Disclose the funding provided to male and female athletes. • Review the process for elec6on for the IOC to include independent nominaAons. Include the IOC Women’s Commission as one of these.
Governance is critical
“Sport leaders face a criAcal yet long overdue strategic decision in properly equipping their sports for future development. How they decide to respond to the challenge will determine whether their teams will win or lose the future game” Michael Pedersen, former Head of the World Economic Forum’s Partnering Against Corrup=on Ini=a=ve
Australia is leading
“Confidence in the leadership capacity and capability of sports — parAcularly in relaAon to management, governance, internal controls and business systems — is acknowledged as being criAcal. Sports will be required to demonstrate good leadership, governance and administraAon as part of the annual investment and review process.” Australian Sports Commission Policy Statement: Na=onal Spor=ng Organisa=ons (NSOs) Governance – Mandatory Requirements for ASC large partner NSOs

National Rugby League
“Culturally the game has to keep shiding to reflect the community we represent. The best teams I have ever worked with have had a balance of men and women in the most senior roles. So we must have more women in every area of our game if we are to deliver effecAve leadership and have wider appeal. That includes Boards, senior execuAve roles, and key posiAons in our clubs and State Leagues. In fact, our new governance reforms will require clubs to have women on their Boards as part of the minimum standards.” Dave Smith, CEO Australian Rugby League Commission, 2014
