1. Ditch the Anchored putter

• A new ban on the anchored putter is set to go into effect at some point this year.

• Keegan Bradley was one of the first to exchange the anchor putter at the Hero World Challenge

2. Counter Balance Putter use will increase

• When the ban on the anchor is instilled, counterbalanced putters will be the new go-to.

• Jason Dufner used a counterbalanced Futura X before his injury.

• Counterbalanced putters have more weight at both ends of the club, intended to help stabilize arms throughout the stroke.

• Manufacturers are starting to produce more.

3. The Ryder Cup task force will release more details on their progress.

4. More amateurs will turn Pro

• Amateurs usually stay at that level to play in the Walker Cup

• However, once the golfers turn Pro, they get tour cards and that is started to become more tempting than amateur tournaments

5. Wearable technology will get more popular

• Google Glass on the course will be popular in the more distant future… not just yet

• For now, GAME golf and Arccos are two popular stat-tracking devices used at the end of their club

• Zepp Golf is great, too- it is a chip-sized computer that gets clipped onto your glove and analyzes your swing for you

6. More courses will offer alternate hole rates

• Golf industries are looking for ways to reinvent themselves

• Not all golfers want to spend 4 hours of their day and however much money to play an 18-hole game.

• Streamsong is a resort that has started to offer 6-, 9-, 12-hole rates and other courses may follow suit

7. the PGA tour will get more statistical

• They recently released a new statistic, the Mark Broadie-inspired Strokes Gained/tee-to-green statistic

• Soon golf fans will be able to see how many strokes a pro has gained off the tee or shots into greens
