Michael Chen co-founded Chen & Associates in New Canaan, Connecticut, 15 years ago. Outside of his work as chief executive officer and general partner of the New Canaan firm, he participates in platform tennis, having won numerous tournaments during the past several years, including the town of New Canaan Championship seven times, and more recently as champions of the 2015 Canadian Open tournament.

One organization that supports the sport of platform tennis is the nonprofit American Platform Tennis Association (APTA), which governs the sport for 13,500 members and sanctions more than 180 annual tournaments.

With tournaments throughout the year across the country, platform tennis participants have numerous opportunities to play. In December 2011, Michael Chen participated in a high-level tournament in Glen Cove, New York. The APTA’s Long Island Men’s Invitational welcomed seeded players across many age levels. Chen and his partner Junius Clark captured the Men’s B tournament title, defeating Jack Sutherland and Tony Ettinger in 7-6, 7-5 matches.

Michael Chen and his partner, Junius Clark, have captured six "B" tournament titles from 2011-2014. In 2015, Michael decided to step up to the "A" level and play in Open tournaments with Ritush Venugopal. After playing in several tournaments, including winning the Canadian Open by the score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-0, Michael and Ritush are now ranked as the #90 best team in the world in the sport of platform tennis.
