All-Sun Belt Selections Five different Trojans earned All-Sun Belt honors in 2015. Gabriel Dias and Hassa Ndayishimye both were named first team All-Sun Belt singles. Andy Lau and Giovani Samaha were both named second team All-Sun Belt singles. Pablo Moreno and Andy Lau also earned second team All-Sun Belt doubles.

Troy vs Ranked Opponents Troy posted a 3-4 record against ranked opponents in 2015, including wins in their last three matches. Troy lost on the road at No. 13 Florida and No. 35 Florida State during the season’s opening weekend. Troy then lost two very close, 4-3, decisions at No. 19 Ole Miss and home vs No. 20 Tennessee. Troy picked up its first ranked win of the season on Feb. 26 at No. 47 South Alabama. Troy went to beat No. 67 North Florida on the road and No. 69 South Alabama in the Sun Belt championship match. Troy’s first win over South Alabama marked the Trojans first win over a ranked team since beating No. 33 Denver in the 2010 Sun Belt championship match.

Troy vs Florida State Troy and Florida State have already met once this season, with the then No. 35 Seminoles winning at home, 4-0, on Jan. 17. The match was Troy’s third of the season and it’s third in 24 hours. The Trojans also played without eventual All-Sun Belt selections Pablo Moreno and Giovani Samaha in singles. Samaha did play doubles in the match.

Troy vs NCAA Teams Troy played seven matches against teams that qualified for the NCAA Championships. The Trojans defeated Florida Gulf Coast, Alabama State and South Carolina State. Troy lost to Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss and Tennessee.

Championship Coach In just his second season, head coach Scott Kidd was named the Sun Belt Coach of the Year and led the Trojans to a Sun Belt Championship. Kidd is no stranger to success, winning nine national championships during his 15-year coaching career. He won eight NAIA National Championships in nine seasons as a head and assistant coach at Auburn-Montgomery. He also won an NCCAA National Championship at North Greenville.

Kidd in NCAAs / at Georgia Scott Kidd coached in three NCAA Division I Women’s Championships in three seasons as an assistant coach at Clemson prior to his arrival at Troy. Kidd helped the Tigers to the Round of 16 in two of those seasons. The lone season that Clemson didn’t advance past the second round was in 2012 when it lost to Georgia at the Dan Migall Tennis Complex. In 2013, Kidd helped the Tigers to the Round of 16 where they lost to Georgia for the second straight season. Individually, Kidd helped Josipa Bek and Keri Wong to the NCAA Doubles championship match in 2011. He helped Yana Koroleeva to the NCAA Singles quarterfinals in 2013.
