2 Corinthians 3: 17, 18

• Now, the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

I. The genesis of mature thinking

• Speaking, thinking, reasoning as a child• Doing away with childish things I Corinthians 13: 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I

reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.

• Not conforming to traditions Luke 11:37-39 When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee

invited him to eat with him; so he went in and reclined at the table. But the Pharisee, noticing that Jesus did not first wash before the meal was surprised. Then the Lord said to him, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.”

II. God has called us to be Transformed into the image of Christ

• “with unveiled face” 2 Corinthians 3:18• “beholding as in a mirror the glory of the

Lord”• “being transformed into the same image

from glory to glory”

III. Bearing the image of the heavenly Man

• I Corinthians 15:49 “And just as we have borne the likeness

of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.”

• Our destiny is to be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus

• “Shall” - meaning it is a certainty that we will also bear the heavenly image
