Johann Friedrich Fasch traveled throughout Germany and played the violin for the Bayreuth orchestra in 1714.
Studied at Leipzig University
He composed church music: twelve cycles of church cantatas, psalm settings, and masses.
He composed instrumental music:• 90 overture-suites• 68 concerts• 19 symphonies• 18 trio sonatas
He had a son, Carl Friedrich Christian Fasch.
Also a composer
Played the harpsichord
Founded the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin

Bach was awarded the position of Cantor at St. Thomas University a position Fasch was seeking himself
Bach even made manuscripts of some ofFasch’s work.
Sadly none of his work was actually writtendown during his lifetime and 4 of his operas have been completely lost to us.
Johann Friedrich Fasch died at the age of 70.
