Revelation 11:15Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”

Three realities which demonstrate that the wrath we see in the book

of Revelation is something we should expect to see!

1. The pouring out of God’s wrath is consistent with God’s vengeance.

Revelation 15:1Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and amazing, seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is finished.

Revelation 6:10They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”

Revelation 6:11Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothersshould be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.

Revelation 19:1-2. . . “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for his judgments are true and just; for he has judged the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”

Romans 12:19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

Revelation 15:2And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands.

Revelation 15:3And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,

1. His deeds are great and amazing!

Revelation 15:3“Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty!”

2. His ways are just and true!

3. His nature is holy!

Revelation 15:4Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify

your name? For you alone are holy. All

nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.

“Wholly Other!” An infinite “cut above”

1.The pouring out of God’s wrath is consistent with God’s vengeance.

2.The pouring out of God’s wrath is consistent with God’s works, ways and nature.

3. The pouring out of God’s wrath is consistent with God’s plan.

Rev. 15 – Why is God so angry?

Revelation 15:5-6After this I looked, and the sanctuary of the tent of witness in heaven was opened, and out of the sanctuary came the seven angels with the seven plagues, clothed in pure, bright linen, with golden sashes around their chests.

Revelation 15:7-8And one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever, and the sanctuary was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the sanctuary until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished.

Rev. 15 – God’s plan.

1. In a day and age when the Church is so enamored with the love of God, we cannot – we MUST not –lose sight of the wrath of God.

“The wrath of God will be finished one day. He will be satisfied. Sinners will not escape. Will you face that wrath for yourself, or

will you flee to Christ, who faced that wrath for all who would trust him when the Father forsook

him at Calvary?” (James Hamilton)

1. In a day and age when the Church is so enamored with the love of God, we cannot – we MUST not –lose sight of the wrath of God.

2. When we are tempted to question God’s ways (especially when trouble strikes), we must remember that His ways are just and true and that he alone is holy (wholly other)!

Isaiah 55:8-9For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Revelation 15:3-4“Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true areyour ways, O King of the nations! Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

3. No matter how tough you have it HERE, take hope . . . there is coming a time when your anguish will be replaced with joy!

Revelation 15:2-3And I saw . . . those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb . . .

Romans 8:18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

3. No matter how tough you have it HERE, take hope . . . there is coming a time when your anguish will be replaced with joy!
