Christ’s Death Would Come at the Right TimeGal 4:4 ESV But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,

2Pe 3:4-9 ESV They will say, "Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation." (5) For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, (6) and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. (7) But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. (8) But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (9) The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

The Jews Were Seeking to Kill HimThe Feast of Booths was at

handJoh 7:1-2 ESV After this Jesus went about in Galilee. He would not go about in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him. (2) Now the Jews' Feast of Booths was at hand.

Deu 16:16 ESV "Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths. They shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed.

The Jews Were Seeking to Kill HimJoh 7:3-5 ESV So his brothers said to him, "Leave here and go to Judea,

that your disciples also may see the works you are doing. (4) For no one works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world."(5)For not even his brothers believed in him.

Mat 13:54-57 ESV and coming to his hometown he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, "Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? (55) Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? (56) And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?" (57) And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.

Act 1:14 ESV All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.

The Jews Were Seeking to Kill Him1. He would not go to Judea because the Jews Wanted to kill Him.

2. All male Jews (include Jesus) were required to go to Jerusalem to attend the Feast of Booths.

3. Jesus has been antagonized and challenged by His own fleshly brothers.

4. Why were the Jews seeking to kill Jesus?

Joh 5:16-18 ESV And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath. (17) But Jesus answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I am working." (18) This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

Joh 5:6 ESV When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be healed?"

My Time Has Not Yet Fully ComeJoh 7:6-10 ESV Jesus said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your

time is always here. (7) The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify about it that its works are evil. (8) You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come." (9) After saying this, he remained in Galilee. (10) But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private.

1. Jesus would not walk on earth much longer, but it was not yet time for Him to give His life.

2. The world cannot hate its own3. The works of the world are EVIL.

My Time Has Not Yet Fully ComeGal 5:19-24 ESV Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual

immorality, impurity, sensuality, (20) idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, (21) envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (23) gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (24) And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Rom 6:3-5 ESV Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? (4) We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. (5) For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.

My Time Has Not Yet Fully ComeTime Belongs to God

Act 1:6-8 ESV So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" (7) He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. (8) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Can This Be the Christ?Joh 7:11-16 ESV The Jews were looking for him at the feast, and saying, "Where is he?" (12) And there was much muttering about him among the people. While some said, "He is a good man," others said, "No, he is leading the people astray." (13) Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke openly of him. (14) About the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and began teaching. (15) The Jews therefore marveled, saying, "How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?" (16) So Jesus answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.

Joh 7:25-26 ESV Some of the people of Jerusalem therefore said, "Is not this the man whom they seek to kill? (26) And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ?

Can This Be the Christ? No One Laid a Hand on Him

Joh 7:30-34 ESV So they were seeking to arrest him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come. (31) Yet many of the people believed in him. They said, "When the Christ appears, will he do more signs than this man has done?" (32) The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him. (33) Jesus then said, "I will be with you a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me. (34) You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come."Mat 24:36-39 ESV "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. (37) For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. (38) For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, (39) and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
