Name means: God saves AKA: Immanuel, Son of God, Bread of Life, Son of Man, Messiah, Lamb of God, High Priest, the Door, the Good Shepherd, Christ, Light of the World (to name just a few!) Startling facts: God, the father of all creation, the one who thought up the universe and created you and me, desires a personal relationship with us. But because He is God, and we are humans, He needed a way for us to relate to Him. So He sent His Son, Jesus, to earth to live a human life, to experience what we go through. The Bible refers to Jesus as both Son of God and Son of Man—He was both at the same time! Did you know? The Old Testament contains approximately 300 prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus’ life. These prophecies were given by God to many different prophets hundreds of years before Jesus was born. Some of these include the place where Jesus would be born, who He would be born to, aspects of His ministry, and details of His death and then resurrection. (See “Messianic Prophecies and Their Fulfillment” parts 1 and 2 for more.) Coolest trait: He loved us enough to die for us. It doesn’t get any better than that. You can too: Jesus said, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love” (John 15:9 ESV). Abide means “live.” Live knowing that you are loved. Authored by R. A. Watterson.
