Part I BEWARE OF
THE WAY SIDE KIND OF HEARTLUKE 8:4-15
THE POINTIN OUR MESSAGE BEWARE OF EMPTINESS, WE UNDERSTOOD THE DANGER OF NOT READING THE BIBLE INTENSELY, STUDYING AND MEDITATING ON IT. WE SAW HOW VITAL IS THE WORD OF GOD IN OUR LIFE. IT IS OUR SALVATION AND OUR GREAT PROTECTION. THE WORD THAT WE READ OR HEAR MUST GET INTO OUR HEART AND BE UNDERSTOOD SO AS TO GIVE US ITS SAVING KNOWLEDGE. THE WORD OF GOD IS POWERFUL AND IT HAS THE POWER WITHIN ITSELF TO PRODUCE WHAT IT SAYS BUT THE HEART OF MEN MAY NOT ALWAYS BE READY TO RECEIVE IT. THE HEART CONDITION OF MAN DETERMINES HOW BENEFICIAL THE WORD CAN BE. TODAY THE LORD WANTS TO WARN AS US ABOUT A FOOTPATH KIND OF HEART AND INSTRUCT US ON HOW TO PROTECT OUR HEART FROM BEING SUCH A HEART WHERE NO SEED OF THE WORD CAN GROW.
LUKE 8:4-94 While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable: 5 "A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds of the air ate it up. 6 Some fell on rock, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown." When he said this, he called out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." 9 His disciples asked him what this parable meant.
LUKE 8:10-1310 He said, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, " 'though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.' 11 "This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.
LUKE 8:14-1514 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
JESUS AND PARABLES
JESUS OFTEN SPOKE TO CROWDS IN PARABLES.
MARK 4:33 With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. 34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.
THE CONCERN OF DISCIPLES
THE DISCIPLES QUESTIONED JESUS ABOUT HIS USE OF PARABLES

IT TAKES A CERTAIN HEART TO HEAR AND UNDERSTAND THE WORD OF GOD

SELECTIVE AUDIENCE
SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE SECRETS OF THE
KINGDOM OF GOD

A NEW HEART FOR UNDERSTANDING
AT CONVERSION GOD GIVES A NEW HEART TO HIS CHILDREN AND ENABLE THEM TO KNOW
THE SECRETS OF HIS KINGDOMEZEKIEL 36:
26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
A NEW HEART FOR UNDERSTANDING
AT CONVERSION GOD GIVES A NEW HEART TO HIS CHILDREN AND ENABLE THEM TO KNOW THE SECRETS
OF HIS KINGDOM BECAUSE IT IS IN THEIR HEART
Hebrews 8:10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
HEARTS WITH THE WORD
SO HEARTS WITH THE WORD WRITTEN ON THEM WILL BE ABLE TO RECEIVE THE WORD PREACHED, READ OR
TAUGHT

THE MINISTRY OF JESUS
THE GREATEST MINISTRY OF JESUS WAS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH THE WORD. HE PREACHED AND TAUGHT IN VILLAGES AND CITIES DURING HIS DAYS ON EARTH.
HE WAS SOWING THE SEED OF HEAVEN IN MEN’S HEARTS
THE MINISTRY OF JESUS
JESUS CAME TO SEEK AND TO SAVE THOSE WHO WERE LOST. HE DID THIS THROUGH THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD.HE RELEASED THE WORD IN ABUNDANCE
SO THAT THOSE WHO BELIEVED IT WOULD BE SAVED.
12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that
they may not believe and be saved.
THE POWER OF THE WORD
IT IS THROUGH THE WORD THAT GOD WANTS TO SAVE, HEAL,
ENCOURAGE, DELIVERS...Psalms 107:20
“He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.”
THE WORD OF GOD IS A SEED FROM HEAVEN
THE WORD OF GOD IS THE SEED FROM HEAVEN. GOD SOWS HIS WORD IN THE HEART OF MEN TO HEAL THEM AND TO BEAR FRUITS.“Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown." When he said this, he called out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear.".
HEARING AND UNDERSTANDING
THE SEED MUST ENTER THE HEART TO BE UNDERSTOOD AND PERCEIVED.NOT ALL WHO HEAR CAN UNDERSTAND. NOT ALL WHO SEE CAN PERCEIVE.
“10 He said, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, " 'though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.”
DIFFERENT KIND OF HEARTS
BUT ALL THE HEARTS ARE NOT THE SAME, HENCE THERE ARE DIFFERENT RESULTS

NOTHING GROWS ON SUCH A HEART. THE WORD OF GOD THAT FALL ON SUCH A HEART
CANNOT GROW.12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.

THE MOUTHWHAT YOU SAY DEFILES YOUR HEART.
MARK 720 He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' 21 For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' "
THE ADVICE OF GOD20 My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. 21 Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; 22 for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body. 23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. 24 Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. 27 Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.
THE ADVICE OF GODDISCIPLINE THE WIDOWS OF YOUR HEART:
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
YOUR EAR: My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words.
YOUR EYES: Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body. Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you.
YOUR MOUTH: Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

IN ORDER TO REVIVE THE HEART, YOU MUST PLOUGH IT AND WATER IT.
