Realizing Innovation

To stay competitive most corporations are doing their best to innovate and create value for its customers. With the ever increasing rate at which innovation reaches the market however it is increasingly difficult to match the speed at which the market operates. Next to that many corporations find themselves limited in the process due to the existing operations within optimized structures towards efficiency.

The process through which ideas come to existence can be a long, expensive and political. Unfortunately, too often new products are being introduced without previous validation.

We believe that every corporation can innovate at the speed of a startup and leverage its vast knowledge and expertise of their domain towards sustaining their

competitive edge on the market.

Goyello has been supporting compannies with the development of new digital business models and products for years and frequently we were confronted with the above mentioned issue.

That is why we started to introduce a process that supports corporations in rapidly prototyping and validating concepts before even a single line of code is written.

Instead of starting with the solution in mind, we focused on the customer and their needs and started the ideation process towards what problems or jobs that they need to get done are worth solving.

Based on those findings we started to develop concepts in its smallest possible

form and created tests in which the concept was presented towards the end-user who provided valuable feedback whether we were on the right track.

This approach has led towards the creation of our Rapid prototyping sprint that helps your corporate innovators, ideate, prototype and validate their ideas within short period of time.

The Build-Measure-Learn loop emphasizes speed as a critical ingredient to product development. Company's effectiveness is determined by its ability to ideate, quickly build a Minimum Viable Product of that idea, measure its effectiveness in the market, and learn from that experiment. This rapid iteration allows teams to determine the most feasible path towards Product/market or solution fit.

Speed is criticalA core component is the build-measure-learn feedback loop. The first step is figuring out the problem that needs to be solved and then developing a minimum viable product (MVP) to begin the process of learning as quickly as possible. Once the MVP is established, the team can work on tuning the engine. This will involve measurement and learning and must include actionable metrics that can demonstrate cause and effect questions.

Design sprintPrototyping - this cycle is repeated, with each iteration bringing the product closer to perfection

3TESTDon’t confuse user testing as the final stage – usually the results of the tests lead to further research and iteration. Don’t think this stage must only come after the designing phase. Testing should occur early and often – it should happen alongside of the design process at different intervals, so that the results can be integrated into further designs.

1RESEARCHThe research phase is where you make sure you’re going in the right direction instead of blindly sprinting ahead. Being prepared and having a solid plan means you won’t have to backtrack as much later, so a little extra work at the beginning saves you a lot of time and effort at the end.

2BUILD/DESIGNDesign documents are often the physical design itself. They change in both form and complexity as the design process advances, and the types of documents, including their fidelity, vary greatly. While there are many advantages to designing quickly and creating a final product as soon as possible, that’s no excuse to cut corners

Despite its creative points, all design boils down to a methodical, almost scientific approach. While everyone’s design procedure varies according to their own personal tastes or constraints, in

general the process must cover three essential stages, with plenty of iteration in between research, design and test.

Our Approach Scrum to BuildIterative development based on the Scrum methodology

In 2009 Goyello decided to implement the Scrum methodology to replace the traditional “waterfall” approach, today we use it for all our projects. Dynamic changes in the business environment demand responsive development. To deliver a solution that matches the end-user’s needs, the end-user has to be involved. Frequent delivery of new functionality increases this involvement and results in immediate client feedback. Priorities can be adjusted on the fly.

The result of the initial analyses and prioritization is the input for the Scrum based build process. All items to be developed/implemented will be added to the Product Backlog. The Product Owner, the client’s business representative, will set the priorities. The team will estimate the effort it will take to realize the work-package, which results in an overview of tasks for the next two weeks, the Sprint Backlog. Daily the team will meet with the Product Owner to discuss the progress. Other domain experts can join if needed.

Reference Sanoma GroupSchool management system – New technologies in education

Create a product users gonne loveOne solution for three groups of target users? As demanding as head masters, teachers, and parents? Designed exactly as its future users require? Yes, indeed! We developed the prototype of System in only 3 months. We did it in Lean Startup.There was one more problem that had to be addressed. Sold once the system was not bringing any extra income, which revealed that the business model in which the system was sold to schools was a faulty one. A new solution had to be designed. And it had to be designed in a completely different way.

Within three months from the initial workshop we designed and developed the interactive, working prototype of System. Thanks the Lean Startup approach it was clearly visible what kind of product ends users expect, so the prototype was well received by Sanoma’s management. As a result Company proceed with the project to develop the final product.

The more data the betterWolters Kluwer SA is the largest legal and finance publisher in the Polish market. It is part of Wolters Kluwer, an international publishing house and information service provider, with 19,000 employees worldwide.Project goal:

To deliver a Microsoft Word-compatible application that supports the electronic circulation of documents and enables the creation and edition of legal texts.

Reference SKOK SOUZBuilding a workflow management system for health services

A services based solutionSKOK Ubezpieczenia insures over 1 million people. It is a health insurance broker for a number of employers. Project goal:

To develop a set of linked IT systems for easy management of health insurance policies and comprehensive medical customer service.

Result:

A system that enables easy management of health insurance and provides the insurance company’s clients with necessary support. The system consists of eight individual web portals.

The system enables full control over medical appointments both for SKOK Ubezpieczenia and its customers. Employers using the new service can effectively manage their contracts and their employees’ medical services.

The more data the betterThe workflow system Goyello is continuously developing and maintaining for 1st Central Insurance gathers as much data as possible. External datasets are being used to further enrich the user profile. • Thanks to continuous data mining new causal

relations are being found in between claim history and the current user profiles.

• In real time these data analyses result in adjustments of the risk multiplier and therefore the price for an individual consumer.

• All user activities are being logged and become part of his profile data, among others to detect fraud.

Convincing the client to adjust the working procedures wasn’t hard. Helping them to adjust the way they internally worked was more complicated. Once the process was fully Scrum based the clients immediately noticed the results.
