Storyline• In the short film ‘The Note’ a couple break up,

only for the male to find a £5 note with a phone number on it, he texts the number and the two grow closer and meet.

ShotsI enjoyed the simplicity of the title and the way it was presented in this short film.

I really liked the different angles used to shoot this scene of the short film. It was quite good, rather than just keeping the camera on them in one place throughout.

I really like the variation of the locations used for filming in this short film, it was obvious they had a lot of thought put into them and were not all close together for convenience, but all quite separated for variety.

ShotsI like the angle used here for this shot, it emphasises the importance of what is on the money.

The fact that he is pacing in this shot emphasises the fact that the character is nervous after texting the number, rather than just sitting waiting for a response, which would be a bit boring to watch.

I don’t really like the fact that in these two shots, of his and her phones, he sends ‘hello?’ and she receives ‘Hi’. This is quite an obvious continuity error.

Shots

Again, I like the changes with the setting, the use of different locations improves the overall film.

I like this shots towards the end of the short film as they are black and white, which shows that they are in the past, explaining how he came to get the note with her phone number on.

I like the end scene that shows them walking off together, it shows that there is a happy ending and the credits rolling over is also quite simplistic like the title, which works nicely.

Evaluation Actors – The choice of actors in this short film worked quite well with the storyline. The first girlfriend was good at having to storm out, the other girl was good at having to tell how the story happened without words and the male actor worked well throughout the whole short film.

Locations – I really enjoyed the variety of the locations within this short film, from the restaurant to the house and the town.

Sound – I enjoyed the sound in this film, it fit well with the emotions throughout the story.

Edit - The editing of this short film was very good, I liked the fact that it was obvious that the film had went into the past slightly to explain the plot with the black and white. However, the editing at one point made the continuity error quite apparent.
