Gender Ratio. It is apparent that majority of my

questionnaire participants are male; this is due to the fact that my target audience consists of mostly male readers, I did supply the questionnaire to 3 females however so my magazine is not completely gender specific. (as I know some females enjoy the rap culture as much as males)

Gender ratio; Male=70%, Female=30%

Preferred rap genre. There’s a wide range of preferred

rap genres in my questionnaire but as you can clearly see from my results the most favoured rap genres are; UK hip-hop and underground (niche) rappers.

This may be due to the audience who participated in my questionnaire as I selected people who would give me the desired answers so they can be of actual use in the production of my magazine.

“Do you read music magazines” As you can clearly see most of my

participants do not read magazines of any genre, possibly suggesting how useful they are as a target audience due to the fact they do not support the magazine industry. Although due to the uprising technophiles of todays generation (of which I assume all my participants are technophiles) this means they could support the industry through other media platforms such as social media.

Under half of my participants read magazines. (4 out of 10)

Selected mastheads. The choices of mastheads are

rather straight forward as it is simply selecting the one with the coolest name; although to me this information is much more crucial as it dictates my magazines name.

There wasn’t much of a wide selection this time making it obvious which the preferred name is; “Hip-hop supreme”. Half of my audience (50%) decided this was the best name; although a close runner up of 40%, “The rap bible” could also be a choice considered due to it’s popularity.

“Wavy” had no votes as it appears that my audience has taste.

Selected logo design. Due to the fact my logo choices

are not illustrated it is possible that each participant imagines their choice to be different to one another; the most favoured logo choice was “the earth” although this may be due to me describing the actual design to my participants as alone the earth being my logo may seem irrelevant. 50% of my audience decided this was the best option, my three other options are too low voted to be considered an option for my magazine.

Would you access other media platforms associated with a music magazine? Referring to my previous point,

my target audience follows the teenage years of 16-18 resulting in a large amount of technophiles, and considering earlier not many of my participants seem to read they do however use social media which is displayed in the analysis of this question.

100% of my participants (out of 10) selected “yes”.

The price my participants would pay for a magazine. Majority of my audience

would only pay £1-£1.50 for a magazine, which due to the fact my target audience consists of younger ages does not surprise me as a magazine is probably of lower priorities to their other interests; although 2 people said they’d spend £1.60-£2.50, these people were also interested in reading magazines suggesting a pattern of interest.

80% would only pay a small fee where-as 20% would go that step further and £1.60-£2.50.

What would rather read about in a music magazine? Considering that I handed my questionnaire

out to people who have a genuine interest for the rap culture it is no surprise that the most popular choice was to read about a rappers personal life, with a close runner up of how they made it to be the famous rapper they’ve become; both informative of a rappers life not their music, this may come as a surprise but the life a rappers lived usually reflects upon their music.

People also like to know a lot about people they idolise, so to know about a professional lyricist could prove to be interesting as readers may relate.

8 choices to read about personal life, 6 choices for how they made it and 5 choices to read music reviews.

What rappers would you read about in a music magazine?

This information will decide what artists/groups will be included in my magazine, you can clearly see Joey is the most favoured rapper; Joey is an American rapper, but my participants clarified that they favour UK Hip-hop over any other genre, this brings up the question as to why UK rappers weren’t specified under “other” or that “Black Josh” wasn’t the most favoured rapper.

Personally speaking Joey is a rapper which is un-matched and anyone who appreciates music that encourages you to do better with yourself would love his music; concluding why a young audience would favour him over any other rapping.

My other 2 choices are American underground rap groups and due to their niche background are most probably un-known to many.

8 choices for Joey Bada$$, 4 choices for UnderAchievers, 5 choices for Flatbush Zombies and 6 for Black Josh.

What front cover image is most enticing to you?

By a dramatic difference the most popular choice was a popular male rapper for the front cover of a magazine.

This may be considered most enticing as in society it is more normal to see a popular male rapper on the front cover of a music magazine; either that or the fact that my audience was mostly male and would rather possibly see their idol as the front cover to a magazine.

I assume my participants would rather see a popular rapper so they know who it is; niche rappers are un-known by everyone disregarding the select view that listens to them so why would they want to see someone on the front cover who isn’t even famous.

9 choices for a popular male rapper, 1 choice for an un-known male rapper, 2 choices for a popular female rapper.
