Question 4: How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

VokiI used Voki within my research and when I was creating my Mid-Point Review. I chose Voki as I find it really user friendly and I liked how you could chose your voice, actor and costume design yourself. I feel it also breaks up long-winded, weighty pieces of writing nicely and makes it more fun and interactive. Overall, I enjoyed using Voki as I found it very effective, easy to use and it made long pieces of writing more fun as you didn’t have to read them, you could listen to Abraham Lincoln or even an animal of your choice reading it to you.

YouTube

I also used YouTube to share pieces of planning in forms of auditions for my trailers, I also used it to put up various versions and attempts of my trailer, included my final cut. I already have a YouTube channel, so I found it fairly easy to use and upload them embed videos onto my blog. I also liked being able to easily share various things to do with my trailer almost instantly with my group members and we could easily access them from home, school and on the go. I also had the only YouTube channel in my group, but I found it so quick and easy to email embed codes to all of my group. On the whole, the use of YouTube in my research and planning and final product was very useful and it did exactly what I wanted and needed it to do.

Slideshare

I found that Slideshare was on the whole good for showcasing images from a photoshoot, as well as for showing analysis and indeed my evaluation. Slideshare is very user friendly and embeded very easily on my blog when needed. I didn’t use it as much at A2 as I did at AS, this is because although I found it easy to use, I also liked the idea of having basic posts mixed with posts that included things like Slideshare, Voki and YouTube. In conclusion, I really like Slidshare as it is clear and easy to use, it is also an effective way of putting powerpoints from your computer online exactly how you designed it.

LiveType

LiveType allowed me to be able create texts for my company logo as well as my film title, that moved and looked professional . With LiveType, it was possible to edit the text and change the size, colour, font and different effects could be added to it to make it look a lot more professional than just typing something out on iMovie. It was a fairly complicated piece of software, however I found it quite easy to use once I’d got to grips with it. Both my logo and film title creation were used in the final trailer as they both looked as professional as they could and they both fitted in well with our trailer and horror genre. I also found LiveType the easiest to use out of my group. I’m really proud that my creations were used in our final trailer.
