HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?

By using this picture on the front of my cover I am representing the type of person which would be reading my magazine. It shows a young girl in a dress. That would represent the youth and gender of the social group. Her outfit and hair add less to the innocent, girly look and make her look more like a rebel this would represent the social group as it would show their need to breakout and express themselves.

I think the fact that most of my magazine is pictures would represent my social group well as it shows that my audience wants to know the main points of the story and therefore cut to the main points without wasting their time with just filling material. This shows that although young my social group would be quite sensible.

I think the fun represented in my magazine by the font and colour would show that my social group is fun but also quite ‘trendy’ as the genre of pop music represents this itself so I think my magazine mimics that.

As the genre of pop music itself refers to the popular genre of music and most of the charts are dedicated to this type of music its tells me that this type of music would be ‘trendy’. By knowing this I can identify that my audience would be trying to aim for the image of being new and on top of their game. I have tried to represent this in my magazine as best I can by using the model to show what I think this sort of person would look like and by using the font, colour and layout to make my magazine seem new and individual therefore matching the social group I am trying to represent.
