iGive – How your supporters can promote your/their iGive page Please feel free to share this slide with supporters who set up iGive pages for you. You may also carry this
information on your website. This is what you can tell your supporters to do -
1. Send a personalised appeal message/email to your networks, which contains the iGive page link. Tell all exactly how the money they give will be used and what impact it will have.
2. Post the iGive page link and a brief description of what you're raising funds for on whichever social networking site you use, such as Facebook or Orkut. Lots of people take the time to read what their friends are doing.
3. Do you have a blog? Write a post or two about your iGive page and your effort to get to the target amount. One idea is to write about why you support our cause.
4. Don't give up after the first mail; many of your friends may need a gentle reminder so send at least one follow-up mail.
5. Ask your spouse, siblings, parents and children to help you spread the word.6. Still can't think of who to send the link to? How about your…
cousinsneighboursbatchmatescolleaguesfamily friendsclub/gym friends
7. One last tip - after your page expires, don't forget to write to everyone who donated to you thanking them and telling them that they helped you succeed.

Giving Challenges
What’s in it for you?• Challenges are a good opportunity for you to connect with your donors• It is your most effective fundraising event because you can get a multiple of what you raise• Infact, your donors (individuals/corporates) who wish to do more for your NGO can participate in these challenges too by reaching out to their networks
131
Make a difference ! Donate Online at www.GiveIndia.org
Giving Challenges
…During a Challenge:• Sending out mails is not enough; follow-up calls to donors are necessary• With the ‘Number of Unique Donors’ category, reaching out donors who can give small amounts will be helpful too• Don’t give up! Remember, there are daily and weekly prizes to be won.
…After a Challenge: • Thank donors whose their donations helped you win a matching grant• Keep donors updated on how you used the funds raised as well as the matching grant • Share stories of your fund raising strategies and experiences of the challenge with GiveIndia – we will try and do some publicity on this front using these
What do you do…
…Before a Challenge:• Be prepared: in terms of people, a fundraising plan, a project with demonstrable impact, which will appeal to your donors• Get your corporates involved! [If a GiveIndia corporate has selected your NGO, we will connect you to them. Be prepared to do a presentation of the work you do, to them.]

How to communicate with donors
Tips to improve email communications:• Personalized mailings work better than mass mailings (Use mail merge and send out mails, when mailing lists are large)• Keep content in body of mail itself, not as an attached word document• Newsletters should preferably be in HTML format, not PDFs as very few people will take the effort of opening them; as PDFs, they take long to open too• Keep emails short and to the point• The call-to-action should be upfront and clear in all communication• Give important details, such as tax receipt, payment gateways etc. upfront• Ensure that the photos used in mailings are not vey heavy
