Prostate Cancer Care is pretty much advanced when compared with other types of cancers like Lung Cancer or pancreatic Cancer. In prostate, the disease progression is slow and therefore there is a good prognosis.

In addition to the good prognosis, Prostate Cancer is also hormone specific which means the treatment can be planned based on the hormonal activity. There is an assay that is called PSA – Prostate Specific Antigen which is used in the specific diagnosis of the prostate cancer.

The treatment options vary from surgery, hormonal therapies and chemotherapy based on the stage of diagnosis of the cancer. In the early or primary stage, surgery or orchiectomy is suggested. The practice of orchiectiomy is little conventional and is now been replaced with hormonal management with series of LHRH agonists and antagonists. They control the production of testosterone levels and by doing so they regulate the Cancer which is totally hormone depended. In case of the hormone resistant prostate cancer, the medical professionals suggest chemotherapy that kills the Cancer cells.

The good prognosis of the prostate Cancer has been the reason why many Cancer Experiments are possible with PSA and hormone dependent treatments. Prostate Cancer Care is provided by the Uro-Oncologists who are specialized in treating the Uro-Genital Cancers.
