PLOT

• SET AT NIGHT, PROTAGANIST SARAH IS ASLEEP (EQUILIBRIUM)

• SHE IS WOKEN UP BY A NOISE (DISRUPTION)

• SHE GOES TO INVESTIGATE THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE

• SHE FINDS A BROKEN PICTURE FRAME IN THE KITCHEN WITH THE PICTURE MISSING (RECOGNITION OF THE DISRUPTION)

• SHE SEES THE MISSING PICTURE ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER (PICTURE OF BESTFREIND AND PROTAGANIST HOWEVER THE BESTFREIND IS NOW MISSING FROM THE IMAGE)

• SHE HEARS A NOISE, GOES TOWARDS IT, BUT HEARS ANOTHER NOISE BEHIND HER (CREAKING DOOR)

• SHE REACHES FOR THE DOOR HANDLE BUT IT FORCEFULLY SLAMS SHUT

• IMMEDIANTLY SHE HEARS WHISPERS GRADUALLY GETTING LOUDER

• SHE RUNS TO THE FRONT DOOR HOWEVER IT WONT OPEN

• THEN SHE RUNS TO THE LIVING ROOM TO PHONE FOR HELP, SHE HEARS A LOUD SCREAM WHICH LEADS INTO A FLASHBACK OF HER FRIEND GETTING RUN OVER, IN WHICH THE PROTAGANIST IS RESPONSIBLE FOR BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T HELP

• SARAH DROPS THE PHONE DUE TO THE LOUD SCREAM

• SUDDENLY THE TV TURNS ON BY ITSELF (STATIC)

• SARAH TURNS OFF TV

• TV TURNS ON BY ITSELF HOWEVER SARAH CANNOT CONTROL IT

• IN A PANIC SHE TRYS TO LEAVE THE LIVING ROOM BUT IS TRAPPED AND HAS NO WAY OUT

• LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF

• SHE HEARS SOUND FROM THE TV OF HER DEAD FRIEND TALKING

• DEAD FRIEND ON TV IS SPOOKILY SWAYING AND REPEATEDLY CALLING HER NAME

POSTER IDEAS

THROUGH RESEARCH WE FOUND THAT:

• THE MAJORITY OF HORROR FILM POSTERS USE AN IMAGE OF THE PROTAGONIST AMONGST DARK BACKGROUND COLOURS AND RED FONT. THIS IS BECAUSE RED CONNOTES FIRE AND BLOOD AND IS NORMALLY ASSOCIATED WITH DANGER WHILST DARK COLOURS LIKE BLACK CONNOTES MYSTERY AND DARKNESS. THESE COLOURS WORK TOGETHER AND ENABLE THE AUDIENCE TO IDENTIFY THAT THE FILM IS OF THE HORROR GENRE

• THEY FREQUENTLY USE A TAG LINE WHICH ENTICES THE AUDIENCE TO WATCH THE FILM

PRIMARY TARGET AUDIENCE:

• OUR FILM IS TARGETED TOWARDS BOTH GENDERS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18-30. THIS IS BECAUSE THE SUPERNATURAL/HORROR GENRE WILL APPEAL TO YOUNG ADULTS. ALSO BECAUSE THE FILM CONTAINS DISTUBRING SCENES IT WILL NOT BE SUITABLE FOR THOSE BELOW THE AGE OF 18.

• ETHNICITY: ALL

• SOCIO ECONOMIC GRADE: THIS FILM WILL ALSO APPEAL TO PEOPLE OF A SOCIO ECONOMIC GRADE FROM C1, C2, D AND E. THIS IS BECAUSE THEY WILL HAVE SPARE TIME TO WATCH FILMS AND ALSO IT IS A FORM OF ESCAPE FROM REALITY.

CINEMATOGRAPHY• THE TYPE OF SHOT SIZES WE PLAN TO USE ARE RESTRICTED TOWARDS MEDIUM TO CLOSE UP SHOTS AS THE

PROTAGONIST IS GOING TO BE IN AN ISOLATED ENVIRONMENT INSTEAD OF THE OUTDOORS

• CLOSE UPS WILL BE USED IN SCENES SUCH AS THE KITCHEN SCENE IN WHICH SARAH SEES THE PICTURE ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER

• ALSO IN THE SCENE WE SEE SARAH USING THE REMOTE CONTROL TO SHUT THE TV(EXTREME CLOSE UP OF THE BUTTON)MEDIUM SHOTS WILL BE USED TO FOCUS MORE ON SARAH BODY LANGUAGE TO ILLUSTRATE HER FEAR AS THE HAUNTING PROCEEDS.

• A LONG SHOT WILL BE USED DURING THE FLASHBACK TO HELP THE AUDIENCE ESTABLISH THE DIFFERENT LOCATION THE SCENE IS IN.

• IN TERMS OF ANGLES AND MOVEMENT, WE PLAN TO USE HIGH ANGLE SHOTS TO SHOW THE VULNERABILITY OF SARAH SUCH AS WHEN SHE IS WALKING SLOWLY BACK TOWARDS THE DOOR.

• CANDID SHOTS WILL BE USED AT POINTS SUCH AS WHEN SARAH TRIES TO REACH FOR THE DOOR HANDLE WHICH WILL HELP GIVE AN UNCOMFORTABLE FEEL.

• STEADICAM/TRACKING SHOTS WILL BE USED WHEN SARAH IS GOING INTO THE KITCHEN AS IT WOULD BE THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO INTRODUCE THE SCENE WHEN SHE SEES THE BROKEN PICTURE FRAME AS THE CAMERA WILL BE POSITIONED IN AN OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT TO AN THE EFFECT OF THE AUDIENCE SEEING WHAT HAPPENED AS THE CHARACTER DOES.

• FOCUS PULLS WILL BE USED IN A QUICK MOTION TO ADD A FEAR FACTOR IN THE SCENE WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE FLICKERING AND WE SEE THE DEAD GIRL STANDING RIGHT BEHIND SARAH.EDITING

•QUICK CUTS WILL MAINLY BE USED •JUMP CUTS WILL BE USED IN SPECIFIC MOMENTS SUCH AS THE FLASHBACK WHICH COMBINES QUICK CUTS WITH A FADE TO WHITE/BLACK

• BACK LIGHTING USED IN ORDER TO CREATE SILHOUETTES AND CREATE A SENSE OF IMPENDING DOOM ADDING TO THE FEELING OF SUSPENSE

• UNDER LIGHTING USED TO DISFIGURE FACE AND HIGHLIGHT THE EMOTION ON SARAH'S FACE WHILST AMONGST DARKNESS

• PROTAGONIST SARAH WILL BE DRESSED CASUALLY AS SHE IS MEANT TO APPEAR ORDINARY, THIS IS TO MAKE SURE THE AUDIENCES FOCUS IS NOT TAKEN AWAY FROM THE ACTION WITHIN THE SCENE
