From 2010 to 2013 Quisia has been organizing the Garifuna society for
healing for cultural survival by introducing the ideas and economic
remedies of Henry George to the indigenous people of Honduras.
The Garifuna – A Living Human Heritage
Honduras since the 1990s has invested in tourism, considering this aspect as the most important for economic development.
With this purpose in mind, the coup de e’tat government has intensified projects that increase land grabbing and harrassment of the indigenous people who live in these areas.
They are killing journalists, the most recent was kidnapped and killed on 25th June. In less than four years Honduras has become one of the most dangerous places for journalists.
There are two groups – those promoting the government projects and the people who are defending the Garifuna land base.
