MOJO Magazines...
MOJO magazine creates magazines for artists like:• The beetles•Michael Jackson•Bob Dylan•Oasis•Arctic Monkeys
The meaning behind MOJO...
An informal word, a word related to middle aged people as it was common in the 19780’s. Title in a big font so readers will notice it first thing.
Annotated Magazine CoverThe layout and style stays the same throughout all published magazines to create uniqueness
Large font for band name because this particular magazine focuses on The Beatles. It stands out.
Title ‘MOJO’ in the largest font on the cover and its behind all of the text and image.
Sub headings. Some are in bolder fonts whereas some aren't and are a lot more smaller perhaps because that is not important.
One whole big image of The Beatles used almost as a background. The image of The Beatles takes the reader back in time to remember and look at times when the band members were alive and recording songs
The text is coloured in either grey and white apart from the top corner. The name ‘Beatles’ is in red
Compared together magazines, MOJO magazine doesn't use much highlighted colours. This tells me that the magazine is targeted for an older audience.
The masthead ‘FREE Beatles CD’ partly colored in red to make it stand out as the reader would feel as if they are getting bargain purchasing the magazine.
Majority of magazines…On the right, there is information of other artists that feature in the magazine. The font and font style is formal and the language doesn’t get too chatty (as its aimed at an older audience). Sometimes color used in magazines may influence who they are targeted at, therefore MOJO uses a lot of white and black so that it appeals to both men and women.
The overall style of their magazines are formal, using sensible fonts this again will attract an older audience as they would appreciate a more formal style than the younger audience.
In the sub headings, there are advertisements for contests and review for albums and live shows.
AboutAfter the success of the Q Magazine, publishers wanted to create a magazine to top it.
MOJO Magazine is quite a popular music magazine and was created and published initially by EMAP but since January 2008 by Bauer. It was first published in 1993 for audience interested in classic rock.
Starting out with artists like Bob Dylan and John Lennon who become the stars of the magazine.
Purpose and Target Audience...
Purpose: To attract mainly middle aged people to purchase the magazine and to aim their magazines at classic rock starring artists like Bob Dylan and Amy Winehouse etc.
Target Audience: It is aimed at people aged from 30 and over and for both men and women but mainly men as the letters published were done by men. In terms of race, this magazine appeals to everyone. For people who enjoy classic rock as the magazine stars artists like Bob Dylan and Amy Winehouse, this could be people who are interested in olden music I know this because it barely stars modern artists.
