In 2006, Welthungerhilfe commissioned the Centre for Advanced Studies in Rural Development (SLE), Berlin, with a study: How to incorporate disaster risk management into rural development?

In 2008, Welthungerhilfe created a new thematic division “Knowledge Innovation Consultancy” including a focal point for Disaster Risk Reduction and Adaptation on Climate Change.

In 2009, Welthungerhilfe continues the mainstreaming process: Disaster Risk Reduction as a tool for development cooperation.
