2. Background

Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) is the process the U.S. Department of Defense uses to reorganize its military installations to adapt to changing circumstances.

The 2005 BRAC law will result in the transfer of 14,000-19,000 Department of Defense jobs to Fort Belvoir in September 2011

Service is proposed for removal along Hooes Road and Silverbrook Road between Newington Forest Ave and Southrun Road.
