What is your age?

I chose to ask this question in the questionnaire because it gives me an idea of who will be reading my magazine. My results show that the majority of people who will be reading my magazine are aged between, 13- 25. This helps me a lot because then I can design a magazine that best suits my audience. For example I will be involving a lot more pictures into my articles than I would be with ages 26 and above, this is because i think teenagers and early adults will enjoy viewing more pictures than an adult.

The reason I have asked this question is because I want to find out the appropriate price and a price that my audience would be comfortable paying. I would not want to over price my audience. The results show that 60% of the audience think the appropriate price to pay for a Music magazine is £1-£1.99. I will Charge £1.50 for this magazine as this price is most likely to reach out to all the audience. The only people it may miss out is 10% of the readers.

How often would you buy a music magazine?

This question shows me how often people are willing to buy a music magazine. The results show that there is a major split between the people who want the magazine weekly and monthly. There are no outstanding result in this table, they are very much even. The reason I have asked this question is because I need to know how often people would want a music magazine, because in this case the majority of the votes go to monthly, this is useful because if I was to print them weekly then it is likely to not sell as well because the audience will not want to buy them every week, so they wont.

What colours would you associate with an Indie- Rock magazine?

Red Black White Blue Orange Pink OtherThe purpose of this question is to get insight into what colours the audience feel goes best with an Indie-Rock magazine. I have asked this question because the colours I may see fit to put in a Indie rock magazine, the audience may feel differently about them, and when it comes to the actual magazine it is for the audience so it needs to be what they want in order to sell. The results show that Black and white go best with an Indie rock music magazine, they have around a quarter of the votes each. Following this Blue and orange are joint third with 15% each. Overall I am happy with the colours the audience chose as these are the colours that I would have felt best putting in the magazine.

8This question is not necessarily that important to the actual magazine its self, how ever it does help out vitally in the sale of the magazine. It will help out because if I put the incentive that got the majority of the votes in the magazine then people who are passing it in the store see the incentive they want, they will be more likely to buy the magazine. The votes show that the poster is the most for demand with 7 votes, following this Free cds with 6 votes. The only problem with free Cds is that it will cost a lot more to actually put in the magazine, so every time there is an incentive then I will not be likely to be in the magazine every week.

What content would you like to see more of in an indie rock magazine?

The reason I have asked this question in the questionnaire was purely to find out what the readers would most like in their magazine. The purpose of this is because if the content that is of highest demand is in the magazine then it is more likely to sell. The highest result is interviews, the readers most prefer reading interviews than anything else. When doing the magazine I will include all of the options in this question, however I will make sure that interviews play the biggest role in it, secondly reviews will play an important role too. Now because ‘best artist of the year’ got a lot of votes goy just under 25% of the votes there will have to be a section dedicated to that too.

This was a very important question to ask as I wouldn’t want to deprive the readers of any more content in the magazine by making the it shorter than they wanted it to be, also I didn’t want to over bare them with too much content in a magazine. So really for me this was one of the most important questions. However since my magazine was voted to be monthly the page numbers may have to go up considering I am going to be dealing with a month of news. This means I may have to include at least 60 pages. Although 40-69 pages got the highest vote I may have to move to the 70-99 bracket.

This is also a very important question to ask the audience as it could be the be all or end all for the magazine. Without this question I would not know if anyone would buy my music magazine, however from the results it show that 95% of my responses would buy the music magazine. This leaves 5% to not wanting to buy it, this doesn’t dishearten me because I know that only a few older people answered the questionnaire, this evidence also shows that younger people are more likely to buy an Indie- rock magazine than any other age group.
