HOW TO DEVELOP A MOBILE APP ON A BUDGET
You are a business and you need to cut on costs wherever possible. Yet you do not want to put a
substandard or completely worthless app on the table either.
You have little to no money to spend on the app and you cannot afford poor results as well.
What to do?
The first best thing for you is to set out a plan. A solid plan to spend every penny carefully and
at the right place.
Here are a few things that may help you design an effective low-budget plan for your app:
DEVELOP A PROTOTYPEHiring a full time developer may be out of question
considering your limited budget.
Why not use the awesome tools available?
Invision is one such tool that lets you upload your designs and add hotspots to transform your static
ideas into clickable prototypes with working transitions and animations.
You do not need to have coding knowledge as well to pull off a tool.
Once you have a prototype of the app ready, look for someone to hire and work on the app.
USE A CUSTOM DEVELOPMENT TOOL
Next step would be to hire either a freelancer or a low-maintenance developer.
One way around making the most out of a freelance developer is to use a custom development solution that only requires a setup and monthly service fee.
You and your developer can work on the app using that tool, most of which by the way allow users to
create apps through HTML, drag-and-drop platforms and customize templates.
Without having to break the bank you can easily customize the app and install multiple features.
TRY NOT TO COMPLICATE THINGSAlthough your budget does not allow you to offer too
many features in your app but even if it does, going that route is a complete failure.
It has been proven time and again that users appreciate simpler apps a lot more over complicated
ones.
Keep it simple, keep it straightforward.Decide on your app’s core features and begin with
those.
Do not try to stuff features in the app in the beginning.
The simpler the better.
REMEMBER, YOU ARE THE BOSS!
Even a tiny little feature added to the app can cause a huge blow to your budget.
Avoid adding stuff you do not need.If your app can do equally good without the push notifications for now, don’t add them. The developer you hired might try and sell features to you, after all who doesn’t want to
make a buck out of every possible thing? You are the boss here, do not let anyone
decide what your app should have and should not.
DO NOT RUSH IT!
When you are working on a tighter budget and timeframe, you are left with no room for mistakes.
One little mistake even can cost you a lot!
Give yourself time and make sure you and the developer are on the same page and pursuing the
right path.
Stop every now and then, review what you have done up till now, test the app, gather feedback from your
team before you move forward.
