Let’s get started!


Open a Browser


Click the icon on your desktop


Or at the tool bar


Go to Wordpress.com



Click Create Website



Think of a catchy URL foryour WordPress account


My own example


Fill out the details required


When done, Click Next Step


For Free account, click No Thanks



Scroll down for more Themes


Choose Plan of your choice


My choice for now is the Free PlanClick Select Free


Verify your email address



Log in to your email then OPEN the message from WordPress


Confirm your Email Address



You will now be redirectedto your

WordPress site



Start by creating your Pages


But you might be wondering..

What are Pages?


Pages are menu/tabs to organize your posts

and/or topics


We use Pages to organize and manage any content/s

or otherwise known as Post/s


How to create Pages?


Hover to My Site


Click WP Admin


Hover to Pages


Click Add New


Fill this out


Page Title


Describe your Page here


If you want to add Image


Click Add Media


Upload Files from your computer


Click the image for the settings


Perfect! Now click View Page



Let us check your current Pages


Click the menu icon


These will appear


You now have 3 Pages


Home and About tabs are your Default Pages


Let us add more Pages


Hover to My SiteClick Add just beside Pages


Type the title and content


When done, click Publish


Add more Pages as needed


Next, let us put contents on your Pages by creating Posts


By default new posts goes directly to your Front/Home

Page


Let us set up your Front Page and put new

Post/s to specific Page/s


Make sure you have

alreadycreated a Page that you’d

like to be on your Front Page


To create a Static Front Page go to WP Admin


Hover to Appearance then click

Customize


Click Static Front Page


Front Page Displays should be

set to a Static page


Select a Static Page


Select a Static Front Page


I will choose the Page I created

to be my Home Page


When done, click Save and Publish


You now have a Static Front Page


Every time your visitor check your site this is the

Page that they will see


Make sure to make a very good

first impression


Now let us create a post


Posts are content entries listed

in your Pages


To do this we need to set up your Post Page

To set up your Post Page go to WP Admin



Customize


Click Static Front Page


Select a Posts Page


Select from your Pages where

youwant your new Posts to go to


For now I want to post

somethingto Tools and Apps Tutorial Page


When done,

click Save & Publish


Click the x Button


To create new Post Hover to My Site then go to WP Admin


Hover to Posts then click Add New



Type the Title


The content of the post


Click Publish


Your 1st post! Congratulations!


Let us check where your post went to


Hover to My Site then click View Site


Your Static Page Showed up


Let’s check your Pages


Click the Menu Icon


Here are the latest Pages I created


The Quest Page becomes your Home Page


Your Post goes to Tools and Apps Tutorial Page


If you want to post on other Pages

Please refer to slides 70-75 to do it


Now, let’s customize your site!!!



Go to WP Admin



Customize


Go to Custom Design


Custom Design is available for Premium Accounts only



Click the go back button


Go to Site Identity



You can change Site Title



Add a Tagline


Add a Tagline


If you don’t want a header text uncheck the box


Click the back button


Premium accts can change colors here


Let’s explore this option


Change Headings Font here



Click this to change the Font settings

Select the size here



Click Default Theme Font


Select Font from the list


You can change the size here


When done click Save and Publish


Click the Back button


Let’s put an image to your Header


Click Add New Image


Click Select Files


Wait till it’s done uploading


When done, click Select and Crop


Adjust as need. Crop Image when done


Wait till it is done loading


Whoa!! Click Save and Publish


Click the X Button


Hover to My Site then click View Site


Congratulations!! You now have a Website


Let us reshuffle the order of your Pages accordingly


Hover to My Site and go to Menus


Click create a new menu


Create Menu name the clickCreate Menu


Select Pages the Pages you want to manage


Click Add to Menu



Click and hold the Page/s you wish to move


You can move it down and up, and move a

little to the right to create a sub Page


Move it down or up to move the order


When done, click Save Menu


You can also arrange the order of your post here


Check the posts then click Add to menu


Check the posts then click Add to menu


Click and Drag your posts to create sub item


Click and Drag your posts to create sub item


Now your tabs look like this
