6 This trend will only grow stronger as brands (especially retail and e-commerce) request a shorter timeframe and ease for their customers to purchase their products via the social network.

More Call-to-Action is in Play

The social platforms continue to enhance their Call-to-action features to convert viewers into leads/buyers by adding new buttons and clickthroughs such as learn more, buy now, book now, shop now, sign-up, contact us, share, and so on.

All of these additional features will hopefully lead to more conversions and new leads.

User generated content is a Must. Must. Must. for social media in 2016.

If you want to keep your viewers/fans engaged, you need to have a user-generated content (UGC) strategy. In 2015 UGC dominated the social feeds across all social platforms - from blogs, to news articles, reports, audio reviews, videos, competitions and more.

The biggest/trending brands on social continue to inspire viewers with engaging content.

It’s all about real-time and relevant information

Consumers will spend more time across social platforms in 2016, requiring user experiences across a variety of brands and experiences. You will see a much higher demand for services in real-time access, and the ability to choose how they get it.

Marketers in the coming year will really need to understand their key audience and what they want. A marketing strategy is more important now than ever before.

The news now comes to you, you don’t need to go looking…

“Social listening and proactive community management will become increasingly important for brands looking to grow” Lisa Konig, Director at GCI Collective

People buy from People – Consumer Influence

It has been proven in study after study that people look to fellow consumers –instead of directly to the company to inform purchasing decisions.

It’s time to get those real stories and referrals from your clients and circulate them around your networks, better still – run a competition for people to submit their testimonials to win something worthwhile.

Influencer marketing will continue to be the fastest growing online customer acquisition method.

What’s changedSocial marketers can no longer consider social analytics as a second thought. Social marketing should be the priority focus of your marketing strategy if it isn’t already.

• Consumers expect brands to be active on at least three to four social channels instead of the previous one or two.

• 95% of Millennials expect brands to have a Facebook presence.

• 87% of Gen X’ers (30- to 44-year-olds) and even 70% of those aged 45 to 60 think brands should at least have a Facebook page.

• The amount of data and analytics marketers have access to has exploded in recent years.

• 42% expect a response in under an hour

• Brands can no longer get away with nil or small social marketing budgets.

Transparency is the new normal. In fact, there has been a major marketing mind shift to transparency over the past decade.IN
