Kolene Corp. has developed a variat ion of the Nu-Tride ferritic ni trocarburizing process tha t al- lows manufactures to give parts a smooth, black, polished appear- ance with corrosion resistance su- perior to both hard chrome and electroless nickel. The Kolene QPQ Process is used to finish parts ranging from hydraulic and pneumatic components and auto- motive gears, to builder's hard- ware and outdoor recrea t iona l equipment. The process follows Nu-Tride processing. It involves mechanically polishing and reoxi- dizing parts after they leave the Nu-Tride bath. Pfeiffer has introduced the PAC- Line series of single-stage, oil- t ight ro ta ry vane pumps with pumping speeds from 6 to 630 m3/h. These pumps provide an ef- fective solution for many applica- tions where air or iner t gases have to be pumped off at pres- sures between 1,000 and 1 mbar. Indus t r i a l applicat ions include vacuum coating, vacuum trans- port, degassing molten metals , heat t rea tment metallurgy, and vacuum packaging in the food in- dust ry . Fea tu r e s include inte- grated oil mist separators, oil re- turn units, and safety valves to prevent oil from polluting the sur- rounding air and for pump and sys- tem protection.
