• New knowledge is being created at a very fast rate. Employees need continual updating of knowledge, skills and abilities.

• Continuing education involves a programme of lifelong educational activities to maintain and develop competence in terms of knowledge, skills, abilities and potential for growth.

• Structured:a. Attending: Attendance in conferences, seminars, conventions, symposiums and

workshops.

b. Presenting: Presentation of papers and delivery of lectures at seminars or conferences. Participation in panel discussions.

c. Serving: Serving as member of study group, working group, committees, and work teams.

d. Publishing: Publishing articles for journals and newspapers, publishing books.
