Lithan Hall Academy, once known as Genovate Solutions, specializes in teaching and

training professionals in Digital Marketing and Information and Communications

Technology.

With schools in Singapore, India, Malaysia and Indonesia, Lithan Halls Academy

boasts the WDA, NICF and Edutrust certifications.

In addition, Lithan Hall Academy also offers 90% subsidies from the government,

making it possible for most, if not all, working adults to pick up a new skill that will

enhance their prospects of getting that elusive job or promotion!

1) What do students think about the quality of the teaching provided by Lithan Hall?

2) How do students and professional adults position Lithan Hall as compared to its competitors and

what are competitors doing better?

3) What are the in-demand skills that organizations are looking for? What modules should be

developed to give students and professional adults a more wholesome learning experience?

We will isolate the relevant data to answer all these questions using social media listening.

METHODOLOGY

This is an in-depth analysis of conversations about

Lithan Hall and its modules, competitors and in-

demand skills for 1 year (July 11th 2014 to July 10th

2015), on all social media platforms (excluding

mainstream news): Facebook, Twitter, Youtube,

Instagram, Blogs, Media, Forums, in Singapore in

English.

We are using the latest social media listening

technology, to gather all the conversations which are

scanned by our dedicated analysts in Singapore to verify

relevancy to answer our questions.

Limitation: social networks privacy settings. We are

not able to listen to conversations that people have set

as private (eg: What’s App, some private conversations

in Facebook).

• From all mentions of Lithan Hall, most are neutral but when it comes to reviews, there are 5

times more negative reviews than positive ones. Out of all the opinions that we have gathered

over the past year, 21.7% is negative, 4.3% is positive while 73.9% is neutral.

• Students are not happy with the “shallow” curriculum and feel that the trainers are

inexperienced and not knowledgeable.

• It is important to take note that even the positive comments mention the trainer issue and

attributes it to “luck” – If you are lucky, you get a trainer who is able to teach.

• Lithan Hall has the second least number of mentions on social media with 32 mentions, and is

the most controversial.

• Mentions about its competitors are usually not reviews as for Lithan Hall, but they talk about the

courses and go on forums to seek clarification from their peers.

business or IT, and shows more interest in a IT specific program as he has learned business-

• One Singaporean expresses his frustration about foreign workers being apparently accepted more

often for Continuing Education & Training programs than locals.

• Another is seeking for advice to change his career from Film to IT. He’s advised not to “waste

money” on a private diploma and to try instead online courses such as Coursera, EdX or

FutureLearn. These online courses are serious competitors as well.

• Kaplan Computer Driving Licence is advised to someone looking for Excel classes.

• The influencer here is the same person as the one who was advising the Singaporean on the

previous slide. From all his interventions, he seems to be very informed about CET and the different

programs.

• The NUS-ISS program in Systems Analysis has been

highlighted in one article in the Special Postgraduate

Studies of the Sunday Times in January 2015, with the

testimonial of one student. The article has been published as

well on sgforums.com.

• The ISS Seminar about analytics and healthcare has

been retweeted a couple of times, and by influencers such

as the e27 Twitter account. This is a good way to highlight

the expertise of ISS in Analytics.

Singapore. We analyzed the more than 50.000 jobs posted on JobStreet.com on 15 of July.

• Microsoft Office skills are the most demanded ones, especially Excel, Word, Microsoft Project and

PowerPoint.

• SAP comes next

• UX Design is also a high-demand skill, as well as Databases management (SQL, MySQL,…),

Customer Relationship Management (but not always related to technologies), Business Intelligence,

Social Media, Web Development, and Java.

• The table above shows which programming language

is most popular among employers. The most

demanded programming language is Java and is

followed by .NET.

• There was only 62 games development jobs.

• It is interesting to note that there is an

overwhelming demand for Microsoft skills. Out

of all the skills, employers are looking for

people who are able to use Microsoft Excel,

but also Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft

• Emerging technologies are also noticed to be maturing quickly and will require new skills and

knowledge. Internet of Things is one of these technologies, it got only 26 mentions but this should

increase in the near future.

• In this blogpost about the challenges of the new generation, a senior adviser to the Centre for Strategic

Futures is expecting a need for knowledge in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, 3D Printing, Big Data

and its hand-maiden, data analytics and the Internet of Things.

• In another blogpost the Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum says that

“Human resource executives at some of the world's largest companies anticipate profound disruptions

from the increased adoption of mobile Internet and cloud technology, the use of big data, flexible

work arrangements, 3D printing, advanced materials and new energy supplies, according to early

results from a survey by the World Economic Forum.”

New modules or courses could be developed for Project Management, Microsoft Office, UX Design, Customer Relationship Management, Database Management (with SQL), Cyber Security, Multimedia Skills (Photoshop especially) and Development (Java, .Net, C++, HTML).
